Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

used to be better

Conditions aren't what they used to be, lot of marks around holes, 17 had a figure 8 on the cut of hole, bare spots in rough fairways ok, greens ok, average course, good thing for hot deals on golf now otherwise not worth the price

Not sure what course you are describing. I played this at least 20 times in 2014 and it was great. The group running this now have done a great job of bringing this course back to life. Need to give it another try.

Brilliant Course

Well manicured, helpful and friendly staff. Best bunkers I have seen in years. Tough hole placements make shorter holes tricky. Highest recommendation and plan to play again myself.

Nice course, but a little expensive.

Too expensive for junior golfers. I have two sons, 12 and 14 years old. Augustine wants $35 each for them to play. Other courses in the area that are just as nice as Augustine charge $20. (Forest Green). With golfers on the decline, the high prices for juniors to play golf will only hurt the future of the golfing industry.

Grass Fix

They are still working on the grass around the greens. Laid new sod on multiple holes but it doesn't seem to be taking root. Need to hire a dog to keep the birds off the holes surrounding their lake as there is p00p everywhere.

Augustine from the Whites

Great course but you better have a 225 yard 3 Wood in the bag. The driver can get you in trouble on several holes so pay attention to yardages and where you might go long into trouble!

Great Course

Nice course Staff not very friendly. Happen to be. Wedding that day range closed. I seemed to be a nuisance to them. All they wanted was to get me off the first tee. The drive from Alexandria is always a nightmare with traffic.

Maybe the nicest course in NoVA

Played Augustine for the first time. The whole experience is first rate from the included warm up balls, to the personality of the starter and the clubhouse menu. The course is gorgeous and in good, but not great shape. A lot of work was going on during the round, but that'a fair for a Wednesday. I will be back.

Awesome Experience

The weather was perfect, the course has been miraculously resurrected, and the staff was very pleasant. I was lucky to get the first tee time, 0700, and the starter let me go as a single. The new management has restored Augustine to it's original splendor. Awesome job! The course is in great condition and has the right combination of doglegs, distance, traps, trees, and water.

Nice coarse

I played here with my dad and brother while down for my brothers graduation at the marine base and all I can say is wow. Very nice staff, range balls are included as well as carts. They also gave us a little book that had the yardages to the hazards, greens as well as Layup. If I'm ever back in the area I will be going back. My dad and brother both agreed that this is one of the nicest if not the nicest courses we have played at. Starter stated that it was one of the best kept secrets in the area and we agree.

Poor course conditions

I have played this course many times and usually absolutely love it. The layout is fantastic and challenging and the maintenance is usually amazing.

The course was in horrible shape with plenty of greens damage due to softness of surface, erosion around most sloped areas was bad, tee boxes were in rough shape. Overall it looks as though this summer has really hurt the course.

For the money, this course is not currently in good enough shape.

a fun course for a good player

This is a fun course. I think the condition was slightly above-average, the fairways were in good shape but some parts of some of the greens had rotted-out, the green speed was all over the place and one of the bukners that I played out of had about 2" of sand in it. The greens in general were marked-up, but overall the course was in decent condition. You wouldn't be either overly impressed or overly upset with it. But the main thing about this course is that it really is a fun course to play, even for the jaded golfer. The front 9 is a bit technical and will require concentrated play to score decently. The backside is somewhat more open, offering up a nice long stretch of big tee-shots & fairly easy approaches that, while pretty straightforward and certainly nothing out of the ordinary, are still just a bit technical and you can either let the big dog bite and take your chances or play for score, and either way it's enjoyable. I played from the back tees and was a little off my game but still shot a 105, with a couple of +4s on the front and a +5 on the back, generally about half a stroke over my average per hole. I didn't really get warmed-up until about the 6th hole and blew a long string of pars and bogeys with a +5 in the middle of the back (I was easily on pace to shoot under 100 before that). But in general it was fun. The weather was nice, a little hot (standard Northern VA summer weather) but not too hot, or humid, not a lot of bugs...we just got carried away hitting big tee-shots :) but it was fun, really. None of the holes are really super-tricky, tight or technical. It's all just right there in front of you, some waste, some verticality, some greens guarded by bunkers...standard fare, yet, still, just about "medium difficulty". The tee-shots are fairly easy, the iron shots moderate difficulty, the length moderate as well. Just a fun layout. Challenging, but not insanely-so. I can't see not having fun playing this course. Unfortunately the rate was a bit high for it, with a 30% discount I still paid $50 through golfnow (the most that I've ever paid to play a course through golfnow), so that's $75 a round on Saturday during regular hours...it's not *that* good, sorry. But I would definitely pencil this course in a few times a year, otherwise. I look forward to playing it again. I should mention also that this is more of an upscale course, guys putting your bag *into* your cart and all that, not quite popped-collar but still an upscale crowd. Unfortunately golf makes us all equal, in a way :) hang in there, play the course smart, don't let things get you too upset, don't try to beat the course into submission, and let your irons work for you instead of making them work against you...standard fare. Nothing all that tough. But rewarding, even so.

Augustine - They are trying anyway

Went out got paired with some scratch golfers who were going to play in a Va State qualifer the next day. We played from the tips or at least where they were marked as many of the back tee boxes had no grass. Literally they were gone. My game is coming back as I have been away from the game for some time but the guys I played with could really move the ball. One green slow and somewhat soft near the pin number 1, and number 2 bunkers looked fantastic so I can see some work has been done there. New sodding around the greens again seems they are having issues. THe back nine greens were rock hard. On 16 bombed a drive out 300 and a sand wedge into the green. hit 15 feet in fron of the pin and the ball went off the back of the green. It was July but goodness sakes.

How is it that you don't t see the pro of the golf course on the weekends here, I thought the pros worked on the busiest days of the week for the club.
It is a nice layout but significant work neds to be done here to get the greens and fairways up to the cost of what the management team of Augustine are asking to play there.

I played to see what this looked like on a aafter 3:00 golf now special as I was a member years ago, perhaps I would join again but nearly 6000 for myself and the wife for these conditions? Sorry you all are not there yet.
I will say it is clear they have been working to get it back to what it was in the late 90's

Disappointed with condition

Second time I have played it this year and was really disappointed in the condition. I love this course lay-out and the folks are great but condition was lacking again. Fairways were really hard and patchy, as was the rough. Greens were very fuzzy. Have really enjoyed the restoration the past couple of years after Raspberry took it over but based on the conditions on 7/7, getting the sense it may be falling off again. Hope it turns around because it is a great layout and beautiful surroundings.
