Pajaro Valley Golf Club
About
Originally designed by Floyd McFarkland, Pajaro Valley Golf Club has large Monterey Pines lining its generous rolling fairways. Elevated tees provide scenic views of the Pajaro Valley below. Opened in 1922 and redesigned in 1962 by Robert Muir Graves, the course features small bentgrass greens and four ponds with water in play on three holes. The fourth is one of the course's most challenging holes, a 420-yard par 4 with triple-tiered green. The course also was once the home of former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, who spent the last part of his career teaching here.

Fun, but the greens are looking pretty bad
I like the course, but the grass on the greens looks infected.
Nobody on the course. We played 18 in 3 hours with a cart
Fairways are drying out. They need more water. Some greens are starting to show signs of a fungus.
My hometown!
I used to play there back in the ‘70’s. I play there once in awhile. I like going back home to visit Taylor’s hot dogs, the Wooden Nickel, California Grill, Gizdich Ranch, Freedom Bakery, Freedom Meat Locker & Corralitos market!
The course is in good shape and the driving range is nice too! and the staff are really nice.
I heard the restaurant is new, I’ll try it next round!
Concerning
This course has really gone downhill within the past year. Dry fairways and bumpy and dry greens. Disappointing because the layout is good. Unfortunately at this time, it's not worth it to play when there's better conditions for around the same price elsewhere.
PV naturalist transition
PV is an exceptional Track but in poor condition. It's my recommendation that PV transitions to a naturalist style golf course with a Single line targeted irrigation system that can substantially shrink the irrigation footprint of the golf course. By transitioning to a naturalist style golf course, PV will save the City water while simultaneously allowing the maintenance staff to MANICURE and actually seed a smaller portion of the golf course and make PV more competitive with similar golf courses in the Watsonville Santa Cruz area.
Much improved
The course was in much better condition. They mowed tee boxes/rough and got rid of most of maddening white flowers/weeds. Most of the dead trees have been cleared as well. Glad their finally giving the course a little TLC. Still overpriced at regular rates, but a great deal on Golf Now.
A fun track.
Pajaro is a great mid-range course with plenty of challenges to go around. This time around the greens were a bit slower than I've found them in the past, but they are good shape and challenging nonetheless.
Greens were a little slow.
The course was improved from the previous time I played here.
Great Course layout
We caught perfect dau wonderful course very friendly & accommodating staff. Very challenging course. Will play again when in the area.
Front eight of nine holes were relatively on the easy side. Fairly wide open with little hazards. The back nine had several holes with more topographical challenges. This made the course much more interesting. The course as I understand talking to other players is in much better condition than it was in the past. I found it to be about average in terms of condition. The speed of play was fantastic. Maybe because it was a Wednesday, played in just over three hours. I plan to play there again.
Poor condition
Overall the course was in poor condition. Slow and bumpy greens. All the fairways needed mowing. The cart paths have deep ruts and large holes. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen Pajaro.
