Golf & beer, need I say more
Just the idea of a golf course and a brewery together is perfect. That said, it’s even better when the course is fun and the beer is good. Canyon Lakes was totally worth it. The staff were some of the nicest people I’ve met at a golf course. The course itself was fun, forgiving, but also had very challenging greens. Yes, the sand traps are in rough shape. Hey nothing is perfect. Also beer at the brewery was very good. Overall it’s definitely worth your while to play at this course. This is my first time playing here, but it won’t be my last
Target Golf, Country Club Feel
Favorite aspect was the greens; fast and consistent!
Least favorite aspect was the bunkers; some were bone dry or crusty.
Course was playing soft, very well irrigated, so much so that some of the rough near cart paths was muddy. But it's better than the last couple years when everywhere here was too dry and almost impossible to play. They had lost the course when it was firm so I'm glad they're controlling it now. More playable now, though you'll still have shots that take weird bounces and leave you scratching your head
Good course for a good price
One of the best price courses in the area and generally good pace as it does have Marshalls. Bunkers pretty much unplayable but which traps are anymore?;fun course and the greens are probably the best around.
Constant improvement shows
Quick (right at 4 hours) round on a course that had money being spent on it.
Sand traps still suck as their hard dirt.
Excellent Fathers Day Gift
Sent my father and brother to play since they really enjoy it, they said that it’s the best course they’ve played. They said the marshalls were attentive and friendly. Loved that there was a brewery.
Terrible layout
If you enjoy driving your cart on city streets, endless rows of houses, and tricked out holes mikes apart with no rhythm or flow to the course, then you will have a good time. I hated it.
Elderly backed up
There’s no Marshall and no drink cart but I played on a Monday so typically they don’t have a drink cart. Got through 14 holes no problem but then gave up when we ran into a bunch of elderly that were taking 20 min per hole. Some holes were under construction and several sand traps have no sand.
Kinda disappointing
I was disappointed with the conditions of this course and pace of play. Granted it does have some great views and fun hole set ups, but for the price it’s not worth just that. Greens were plugged and was not notified before playing. There were also several dirt patches throughout the course including near or on fairway. I was expecting more from my local San Ramon course.
Jewel in the south
Amazing layout. Very challenging course. Loved the tight fairways and well groomed greens.
A shot makers course. Definitely be back when we are allowed on the fairways with the carts.
Too wet this time around.
Pace
Course in pretty good shape considering recent rains. Front nine good pace, back nine came to a halt. Frustrating. Slowdown actually started on hole number #7, and dragged remainder of round.
Fore!
I like playing at Canyon Lakes. The holes are fun and challenging and there are some great views too. The course still hasn’t completely dried out from the extraordinary rains we had. That being said, only one hole was cart path only and a few others where there were no carts allowed. That being said, the course was beat up in a few areas and the tee boxes need some love (most are very uneven). For not looking Preston’s, the greens sure rolled nice. Pace of play was amazing and the round was definitely fun. After the round we had lunch and sat on the patio. Food and in house adult sodas were quite good!
