Maderas Golf Club
About
Maderas Golf Club is one of San Diego's most popular courses. Although it is less than an hour from Torrey Pines, it has a stunning landscape and challenging design that rivals that of the famed seaside course. Maderas may not have the ocean views, but its beautiful landscape provides just as much scenery. Nestled inland amongst rolling hills, the golf course weaves through rocky cliffs and outcroppings. There are mature trees throughout as well as a meandering creek and over forty acres of native wildflowers. There are three sparkling lakes and five waterfalls that come into play on the course. The demanding layout features difficult greens that are large and lightning fast. Several tricky uphill and downhill lies can be found throughout Maderas Golf Club thanks to the hilly terrain.

Love this course
The course is challenging, meticulously groomed and beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone. I even bought a logo shirt finally because I talk this course up so much to my playing groups that I figure its time to represent.
Worth the Price Tag!!!!
Super impressed! Clubhouse, practice facilities all top notch! Tee boxes, Fairways and greens were perfect! I would have preferred the greens to be a little faster but it was hot and humid. Tremendous layout and design. Holes are well framed with perfect targets. If you hit it well you can score if you are a little off you will be punished! Ill be back for sure!!!! It is one of the best tracks in San Diego County. Feels like you are at a private club.
The Mecca
This is the greatest golf experience I have ever had. The course provided absolutely everything one can dream of in a day if golf. Stunning views, incredible hikes, outrageous challenges, impeccable greens, and pure golf ectasy.
Heard good things
Greens were in great shape, but course was dried out. Most of the staff were friendly. With.all the blind spots on drives, I got hit into 3 times, while waiting for group ahead
A1 Golf Experience
After teeing up on 18, I’m already dreaming of the next time I’ll get to play Maderas. Immense challenge meets sheer beauty as soon as you step onto the first box. Johnny Miller sculpted this course into the hills like Michelangelo sculpted the David, creating a timeless masterpiece for us mortals to enjoy. Complete with rolling hills, waterfalls, creeks, and strategically placed trees which create a sense of solitude on each hole paired with added difficulty. Find a tee time mid-week and you’ll score one for about $100, which, as the 2nd best course in the county behind Torrey Pines, is well worth it. Staff is always friendly, with a cart waiting for you at the parking lot. Also, if it’s any importance to you, the premium price and difficult layout seem to drive away the hacks/30 handicaps so your round will NOT consist of waiting 10 minutes at each shot which always happens at Torrey. In the event you do have to wait at a tee box, time goes by twice as fast as you take in the beauty of the surrounding hills, and before you know it, you’re up.
Great course and property
Played on a hot Sunday in July. Hit accurate tee shots and you'll go low--approach shots aren't as punitive as other courses around (i.e Torrey) and allow for good scoring. Course was in fantastic shape; fairways were like carpet, tee boxes immaculate. Flyover GPS on cart was helpful as this was my first time playing this course. Had to handle my own clubs and clean them pre/post round due to COVID, also had to clean out my own cart afterward due to pandemic. Grill options were limited to 4/5 items only and were simple items that cost less than half the price to make. Overall great course and highly recommend adding it to your list of must-plays in San Diego County.
World class course
Really good mix of holes, easy to difficult Course in excellent condition, not burned out like so many in the area. Greens very challenging but fair. Need to play it a few times if possible to figure a few things out.
Sometimes I hate Johnny Moller
This is a tough challenge. It takes a few rounds and lots of balls to get the hang of it. A real treat.
Maderas
Prepare yourself for a outstanding day of golf at one of San Diego best kept secret's
The moment you arrive you are treated like royalty and you will be amazed at the organization and friendliest employees, make feel comfortable and welcome.
Now the course is challenging to most that play it, and our group shared that challenge. From tee to green the course is in perfect shape and greens were true and fast. Love to play again in the near future.

Celebrating friendship
Great course lots of beautiful views and well maintained fairways & greens. Bring your A game on the greens ⛳️
Unique course with great views!!!
Beautiful course with spectacular views. Challenging for all skill levels. Course was in phenomenal shape.
Hit them straight
Hit them straight, Because some of the driving holes are unbelievably tight. Plus a couple greens fall right off into the Cliffs. Greens are in great shape staff was friendly and overall the course was fun
Slopey and challenging
Played with 3 buddies who had played the course several times--even with their help, stepped into a few snares built into the course. Assuming Johnny Miller responsible for the snares. Most of the tee shots are semi-uncomfortable to me--blind shots, small targets, sloped fairways. Sometimes all three! I was striking ball OK on this day--but still ended up in 7 hazards (!). Bring extra balls. All that said, the course is beautiful and well-maintained. Greens are very slopey, but running slow on the day I played. Still tough. I'd really like a second try at this one--learned a lot from round 1. $120 is upper end of what I like to spend, a splurge for sure.
