Maderas Golf Club

One of the best local courses around San Diego; conditions always perfect. The staff and amenities are impeccable. Hilly course but very fair if you play off appropriate tees.

This is my favorite public course in San Diego. I’ve written about that before, so I’ll focus on the recent condition of the course. The greens were nearly perfect. They ran smooth and fast. If anything they were too quick, but not by much. The fairways were consistently good and the bunkers were raked and contained plenty of sand. The tee boxes were in good shape. When booking a tee time at Maderas, try to find a discounted rate, but even at the price I paid of $180, the course quality and hole variety is worth the asking price. Normally, I try to play this course for $90 to $120 and at that price, it’s a really great value. This time I booked on short notice at a time when most San Diego courses were aerating, so the options for tee times at nice courses were few.

Could not have asked for a better day of Golf. I brought my wife and mom to visit San Diego for the week and had played at one of the more "celebrated touted courses" a couple of days before and enjoyed myself, but Maderas blew that course away!!! Greens rolled true and were in excellent condition, fairways were picture perfect, and the views although not coastal were still amazing.

Just don't go looking for your lost ball in the trees or outside the cart paths (rattlesnakes) being from West Texas no big deal..LOL. Shot an 86 so not bad for a flatlander that gets a lot of roll in west Texas. Highly recommend this Course truly enjoyed it.

Complimentary range nicely situated. Course challenging and great layout. Only negative; overbooked so played too slow. Great burgers afterwards

The course is in excellent condition and challenging with breathtaking mountainous views. Glad I played here. Friendly staff and the ranger.

Had an outstanding time playing Maderas for the first time. Clubhouse staff, starter, cart attendants, etc were all very friendly and helpful. Facility is beautiful, with great practice areas. Pace of play was great, course looks really good, but greens were recently punched so there was still a fair bit of sand, some bumpiness, and the greens were long and slow ... that whole combo made them tough to read and difficult overall. But this place is great. Will definitely be back if I come back to San Diego any time soon.

Played 18. staff very helpful. Course layout challenging but fair. Greens quick but a little beat up. Views are splendid. Pace of play ideal.

Beautiful golf course! Very scenic and extremely well kept. Soft, but speedy greens with a lot of undulations. You will 3 putt here and there...just accept it. In the Top 10 of courses I’ve played (which is a lot)!

This is the best course in the area by far for golfers.

If you want the best views then play Torrey or Coronado, but Maderas impressed me much more than Torrey south.

It’s a tough course but in impeccable condition and staff is great!
