About
Set in the heart of the Grand Strand's Lowcountry plantation area, Indigo Creek is laid out through large oaks and flowing creeks, especially the back nine, though the views have been somewhat spoiled by housing. The course is built over an old rice and indigo plantation with some nice elevation changes, lakes, waste bunkers and undulating greens. It's a Willard Byrd design, with Bermuda greens and a slope rating of 128.
Indigo Creek is another of those Myrtle Beach-area courses that fell into a disreputable state only to be saved by a new ownership group. One golfer who'd had a bad experience there described it after the refurbishment as the best-conditioned course in Myrtle Beach.
Indigo Creek isn't overly long at 6,744 yards (the shortest of its four sets of tees shortens to 5,921. It is an exciting course with an significant number of doglegs, bunkers and water. The back nine is set among giant oaks and gently flowing creeks.

Course needs attention
Greens were rough. Traps were unraked and partly wet. No rakes available. Fairways and tees were ok. Variety of tee lengths to choose from.
Last day of August!
I found the coupon on TeeOff and Kevin and I made it to Indigo Creek. It was a fairly busy course, but other than slowing down the twosome behind us we were fine. We joined two other golfers - a 12 handicapper and 28 handicapper. We were between them in skill level. It was hot, with a heat index of 97, but there were some breezes. We found the rough to be challenging. A few greens had some bald spots. There is a lot of water to be aware of and avoid on this course. Overall a good experience! We'll be back.

OK but Potential to be a better course exist
Course fairways and tee boxes in great shape. Greens were covered in sand literally mounded up to 1/4" in places. This had just happened as you could see the sandy tire tracks leaving the greens from the delivery vehicle. Could not tell how the greens were under the sand. Greens were not realistically putt-able. Course played extremely slow. My two some grouped with the two some behind us and we still waited 10 minutes a hole and more at times (2-5 some's in front of us). Nice layout and could be great with a little work and scheduling. Left after 9 holes due to time and conditions. I cannot comment on the back 9.

Last time I will play this course. Greens were in terrible condition. Very patchy, so no idea how the ball was going to roll.

Aerification in progress
Course should forewarn plays of maintenance. The greens were aerified either the morning of play or the day before. Fairways were in decent shape and the layout was pretty good. Groups were stacked pair up with another 2 some to speed up tee off but there was 4 groups teeing off at the same time. 2 of them were 5&6 player groups. Took 3 hours to hit the turn, did not try to finish the round. Give the course 3-4 weeks and it should be alright but be warned, That will not change the pace of play.

Pace of play ……
For $25 or less it’s ok. Nothing more. 9:30 tee time , arrived at 9 , 4 groups waiting on #1. 2:30 hours to play 9 , when pulled into 10 tee box, 2 groups playing the hole and 2 groups other than us waiting to tee off Didn’t finish our round.

Cheap for a reason
You get what you pay for. Staff is nice. Just a low budget course. Beware of stacked tee times. We booked for 9:30, it seems so did 5 other groups. I've never seen it 5 groups deep backed up on the first tee. Took 3 hours to play 8 holes.
