Poor course conditions

Tee boxes were not fit for the cheapest muni. We were told that the greens were running slow. That was quite the understatement. They were borderline unplayable. So disappointed in Westin. I would expect for the price we payed that the course would be in top condition. I won’t be back.

Poor Conditions Encountred

We found our full golf experience to be very disappointing.

#1 - Tee boxes were torn up as if they hadn’t been moved in three weeks

#2 - Greens were really slow and erratic - such that roll-out wasn’t true.

#3 - Fairways weren’t grown in adequately

#4 - Traps were all wet and caked with mud.

Bogeyman

The greens were terrible, like putting on carpet. Starting at 1:00, slow pace of play meant I could only play 16 holes. At $113, a 1:00 time should have a lot less

Won't Be Back

My driver didn't make it to the desert with me, yet they were unwilling to provide me with one from their rental clubs.

Greens were very fuzzy, in need of being rolled and cut...Very unpredictable.

Many bunkers were in need of grooming and maintenance.

Tee boxes were butchered, patchy and in need of repair.

The course - or its management - is in dire need of an update and refresh.

Water was available on every other hole, but no cups were provided. Thankfully the woman running the refreshment cart showed up on the 6th hole and provided some for us. She and the staff in the restaurant were the saving grace for our day.

Poor conditions

They were getting ready for overseeding. Jumped the gun a bit. No tee markers. Tee boxes were covered in dead grass.

Crappy shut down conditions! Course did not tell us that they decommissioned the tees - none of the tee boxes were out, and they were power racked!

Very poor communications, pro shop did not tell us that there were no tee blocks out!!! didn't know where to go. on top of that the tee boxes were all power racked and in terrible condition. no one told s to expect this. Many players on the course were very upset. Normally a very good course but someone jumped the gun and upset many players on the last day of play. Not very smart!

1st Pete Dye

I am not sure what to say about the course layout having never played a Pete Dye layout. I guess my comment would be it felt "forced". I once read a comment about an architect's building design that said (paraphrasing) "he would replace a forest with his own interpretation". I still enjoyed by round.

The course condition however did nothing to enhance the experience. Many of the tee boxes had sand where grass should have been making find a suitable spot free of sand for standing or teeing challenging. I'm sure the fall over seed has fix this issue. Some of the bunkers had inadequate sand in the bottom resulting in.. you know what. I played on a Tuesday and I would guess that the hole locations hadn't been moved since Saturday or Sunday. The edges were browned and well rounded. It looked like this was a regular practise as the previous hole locations where very noticeable with significant seems and unlevel. Putting over them was an issue.

Very Disappointed

It was the last day before te-seeding. All of the tbox markings were removed so we had to use the GPS to identify which tbox we were at. Th tboxes were overgrown with weeds. There were no marshalls on the course and pace of play was extremely slow.. it looked like it had not been maintained with extremely long grass before the greens so impossible to find your ball when 10 feet from green. The sand traps were like cement with all rakes removed. The fairways were dry and felt like cement. Pretty disappointing as it's a beautiful course.

Course Conditions Poor

Yesterday my son and I played this course on 10/16/23, a day before it was scheduled to close for seasonal overseeding. Unfortunately course management made a decision to begin the process early. There was noisy equipment tearing up the tee boxes and creating dust throughout the day. Many tee box markers were removed prematurely, so it was difficult to identify the proper tee box location. The course wasn’t in great shape either. The fringe areas around the greens were very rough making off the green putts impossible. The pro shop was very understanding and kindly refunded most of our green fees. They suggested I contact Golf Now for the remaining refund. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any way to reach Golf Now to resolve this type of issue. Based on the Westin’s customer service I’ll give this course another try, but I’ll try to book my tee time directly next time. My experience with Golf Now customer service has been frustrating! Please refund my remaining balance!

Good, Challenging Course

Played this course right before an AJGA Golf Tournament. Place was packed with Juniors getting ready for their Tourney. These kids can PLAY!...This really helped pace of play (they were fast). Typical Pete Dye design - Visually intimidatingly, rolling hills, bailouts are in the bunkers, and water hazards in crucial spots. Overall it is a challenging course when played from the tips. Staff was accommodating. Didn't have a lot of options because Palm Springs closes 1/2 their courses in October for Overseededing (getting ready for winter). I wouldn't pay more than $120 for this place.

Good value for the price

Played for $56-which was good value.

Would not pay more than $65 for this course as the conditions don't warrant it. Sand traps and tee boxes were well below standard. Greens were in decent shape. Layout is nice and green complexes and run offs around the green are very challenging.

A good course and good value, too.

I played this course for the first time last week and returned two more times. It’s an interesting layout with some very good holes. The condition was a little shaky in spots probably because over seeding is coming up soon. All three of my rounds were completed in less than four hours and the last one was just a little over three. The only negatives were the unfriendliness of the cart guys and the absence of a starter which made pairing up with our assigned playing partners somewhat awkward. All things considered a solid 4 out of 5 rating.
