Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa - Pete Dye Resort Course

Nice hot day, with just a bit of breeze - no sand/dust blowing! The group i had booked with cancelled, so arrived early to warm up (decent range, balls ok) and join others, the group they put me with were a no show also, so had to wait as i did not want to play alone. Staff were friendly but while waiting for the next group i noticed a twosome head for the tee (they arrived early for their tee time), so had to run into pro shop and ask as they did not come get me as previously discussed (miscue for sure).

So got to the tee box, noticed no scorecard or pencil in the cart! Had to drive back to pro shop (none located on the 1st tee?) and get the supplies. Noticed on the first hole GPS was not on, so unplugged it to reboot. After a few minutes it came on and finally acquired the satellite signal only to turn off again. This continued the entire front nine (had only my rangefinder to go by, no layout - disappointing and frustrating not seeing the hole layout!). Otherwise lovely views and good conditions except for a few tee boxes and dirt patched on the front of some greens. Back nine greens seemed to roll more true but overall a bit slow. Many bunkers were hard and muddy, not playable without a drop. Good supply of water stations, but bring your bottle, none supplied.

There’s courses I’ve paid over $100 before that I can say I will never go back to. This is definitely a course I would play again. Green speed is not like the practice green though so don’t practice putting before your round or you will putt every ball 20 feet past the hole.

Played Sept 25th prior to course shut down for annual maintenance. Greens we slow and fuzzy, bunkers were hard packed sand. I'm sure course would be perfect after the full course maintenance is completed. Overall enjoyed the day

This was a last minute round and it was beyond our expectations. The entire property is beautiful and once we figured out to get on a shuttle for a short ride to the club house we were greeted by the starter with appreciated information. The range was top notch (Balls included with your round) and the value of the round makes you feel like you got a GREAT deal!! The course is completely stunning and the views were some of the best I ever seen at a course. The conditions were excellent in all areas ... the Tee boxes could have been leveled out a little more as some were uneven but no biggie.... plenty of challenges with bunkers and water on many holes. The workers and staff were super friendly and I highly recommend this course if you really want to treat yourself or others to a beautiful and awesome experience. I cannot wait to return and play here again and I'm thinking of actually planning a trip to stay and play here with my family... it was that nice!!

Greens looked nice but we’re slow as molasses.

Course in fairly good shape. The layout is pretty bland. Water holes are fun. Played Shadow Ridge a couple days earlier and feel it’s got a lot better feel to it.

Staff at Mission was awesome

Lots of uneven cuts. Lots of dirt in approach areas around greens. Fairways were mowed too fast causing ripples. Won’t go back

Played this course for the first time. Well maintained fairways and greens. Pace was fair. Will play again.

We had a great time. The course was in fantastic shape even at the end of summer. Pace of play was a little slow. We were paired with a child and her coach (an 8 year old that was pretty amazing) and a young man with a temper. That made things a little difficult but it was a fun day.

The course had lots of patches even in the center of the fairway and around the greens. Plus tee boxes were terrible.

The course was in good condition and the pace was fair. Would come back again.

Westin Mission Hills Pete Dye course is a challenging layout that is in great condition for early September. Greens a bit slow but run true, fairways are lush, and tee boxes are ok. Got paired with another single (with rider) on Labor Day and tee'd off at 1050am. We allowed another twosome to join us because the 4 some ahead of us played at a 5 hour pace. I recommend this course (especially for the deal I got) but the course really needs a marshal on weekends and holidays to enforce pace of play.
