Fun Course Layout

This was my second time playing Spring Valley. The fairways and tee boxes were in pretty good condition considering the heat of the summer. The only knock would be the greens could be in a bit better shape in terms of smoothness and quickness.

Overall, it's a fun short course with an interesting layout where not every hole feels like a copy of the last, which is a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of your average courses around the same price point. There are some challenging par 3's, like #11 over the water, as well as the tee shots on #9 and #18, and the par 5's are comfortably reachable with well-played tee shots. Add in some scenic views of the surrounding hills and the possibility to shoot a low score, and this course is worth checking out.

A pleasant surprise in the Bay Area

I had never heard of Spring Valley until my traveling foursome decided to give it a whirl. What a discovery! One member of our group is already planning to go back a week later.

Spring Valley is hidden in the hills east of San Jose. We picked it because the temps there are slightly cooler than the 100 degrees closer to home.

The layout is rudimentary in spots with few bunkers. There are, however, nice elevation changes and a pond impacting three holes (9, 11, 18) that gives it some character. The endearing trait is the surrounding hills that tower over you and protect the valley from any intruding homes. It's a pleasant walk and a chance to shoot a career-low round.

Good Coursr

Spring Valley is wide and forgiving. The fairway fringes are hard and the ball can roll a long distance. Greens are in very good shape and also aren’t very fast. It’s a fun course for the weekend player. My only complaint is that management has decided not to put any money into opening the driving range.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

Terrible customer service

I was on hole 17 with plenty of light out and was told I could not finish the last hole. After having to wait 30 minutes on hole 2 because there was 4 groups in-front that had not tee’d off yet. Terrible customer service and terrible pace of play.

Poor Customer Service and Constant Drama

Staff at Spring Valley continued being disrespectful to customers. I had been playing regularly that had seen and experienced constant drama. E.g., white hair lady demanded that I had to say thank you when she turned on the cart, checked you in. More recently, I was asked to pay $5 extra to ride on my own without an written rule

Spring Valley is a good golf course with unprofessional staff (especially a white hair lady).

Two years since last played... course is still in great shape.

Driving range was closed & pace of play was slow. Everything else was thumbs up!

Still a Nice Track

Oh it’s still a nice track the back nine plays very well and changes up from the front and it’s far better than any local Muni as far as pace of play amenities and course Layout.
