About
Editor's Note: Course closed and reopen as The Yards.
The Oak Bridge Club (formerly known as Ponte Vedra Golf & Country Club at Sawgrass) in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., sits adjacent to the famed Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. The 6,413-yard, par-70 Arnold Palmer design features water on every hole, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. Oak Bridge favors accuracy and strategy over power and distance. New owners have upgraded the clubhouse and introduced a new restaurant, The 3 Palms Grille. A tennis center is home to 10 Har-Tru clay courts.

Improvements
I have been playing here for a couple months and the course keeps getting better. There is a new owner and they are showing obvious effort. You simply cannot beat the prices either. Well worth the money. Work is still being done on the restaurant but they have a grill outside and are serving drinks in the meantime. Staff is excellent and very polite. The beverage girl will make your day.
Course is much improved
I live in ponte vedra so I've played oakbridge a lot over the years. A couple years ago is when it was at its lowest point. Since then it has steadily improved and when I played it last month it was in good shape - what's more is its continuing to improve. You can see where the money is going and the difference it is making. I love the layout of this course no matter what shape it is in because you still have to work the ball off the tee and hit accurate approach shots to shoot a decent score. In my opinion it is worth paying $20 to play this soon to be gem.
Worth it!
Fun course. Great layout.
not worth it
The course is in Horrible shape. Fairways have no grass Greens are covered with geese droppings. I would have rather went to the driving Range.
New Oak Bridge
Better than the course has been in years! New owners are really trying to make improvements but they have there work cut out for them. Bunkers need work and would have an immediate impact to play.
Back in shape
Played nine with my wife and son great family course greens are better than before for sure tee boxes are moved for the better angles and distances staff is a little clueless but the course is all that matters worth 15 to twenty dollars if you can control your shots nice nostalgic feeling
there under new mgmt, & it's coming around nicely
my first time back in a year, & they don't have #10 green finished yet! tee boxes on the front were scratchy, but they can fix that easily, I can only think of 2 greens that were rough, all others were fine! one of the best driving ranges & practice putt & chip areas in jax! I've been playing out there since the early 90's & there still gonna get my money!
On the rise
Everyone knows this track and the condition it has gone to. I must say, it looks so much better than before. Someone actually took a little time and worked all the goats off of it. Fairways are decent and the greens are mostly solid. No, TPC Stadium it is not, but you aren't a pro, especially if you are reading this review. It's comparable or better than any of the other $20-$30ish courses within 15 miles. Go with a few buds, have a good time for not a lot of money. New carts, nice range and a mostly open tee time list, it was a great surprise to play it the other day.
This course isn't worth playing
I wouldn't recommend playing this course. The greens are in terrible condition. The home owners are the most inconsiderate people they let there dogs run around on the greens. They won't even move when you are trying to tee off they told me it was to late to be playing golf there was an hour and a half left of sunlight. I told the golf shop and they didn't even care. By the way there's a temp green on 10. The tee boxes don't have grass on them. I will be going down the street from now on.
Looking better
With the new owners you can definitely see an improvement around the course but some work still needs to be done in the bunkers (wet dirt) and a small number of the greens. For $20 it was a very fair price but I wouldn't pay much more until all the improvements are complete.
Course and Clubhouse showing improvement
The design of this course is excellent and there is a premium on driving the ball in the fairway as water is in abundance - in play at least once on every hole and 2+ times on many others. Their greens were almost gone a few weeks ago but are coming around and will get better. A lot of work going on here - brand new range and TPC class range balls and new carts. Also new patio area behind clubhouse and all new landscaping around clubhouse. Construction right now, putting in a new restaurant area. Using the Golf Now rates it is worth taking a look at. Just bring your ball retreiver, as you will be in the water at least once I'm sure. Not a long course, but you can't just grip it and rip it.
On its way back!
This course needed a lot of work when I played it last year.
When I arrived to the course, I found that the clubhouse and pro shop were being redone inside and out. From what they've already done, it looks like it'll be a nice facility.
I then noticed that they had new golf carts and the Titleist range balls were also new.
The course itself is in okay shape. The greens were a bit long, but I know they are trying to fix the greens.
course review
course fairways in good condition but greens were terrible, hole #10 had temporary green and the rest were in bad shape. not worth the $30 green fee.
Sun 5/30/16
Great layout as are all Palmer Courses. New ownership. They are redoing the course as it had been neglected for some time. Fairways are good, but tee boxes and greens have not yet been completed. Will be a great course when finished. Paid $25 for 18 with a cart and can't complain for that price. Will be a $75-$100 round once completed if it is done properly.
Course Renovation Required
The course has gone through many owners since its prime days. It is hard to compete with other area golf courses and when you can get a tee time for $16.00 including a cart they will never make enough funds to put back into the course. Needs major investors for improvement's. The layout is challenging and well thought out. The sand traps have dirt not sand (several actually had standing water in them). The tee boxes are infested and in many spots no grass growth. The greens need major attention. Worst of all there is goose waste everywhere, fairway, greens, tee boxes. If you want to go out and drop a few balls and practice there are fairways that you can do this on. Putting would be a challenge because the roll is not true due to weeds and goose droppings. We were met at arrival, bags were taken and placed on the cart. Check in was standard, but not like a Golf Pro Shop. There was no golf lingo, asking if you needed balls, basically no upsetting, just check in and move on. Pro Shop lacked merchandise. First sign there is no money in the budget. No beverage cart. End of round we were met and our clubs were cleaned off and bags taken to the car. I wish the owner and or owners much success. There could be a great future with that course if money was put into the course. Close course for a year and get it in shape. It could once again be one of the best with a membership waitlist Good luck.
I agree with surfcity. This course was a nice course. When I hit mega money tonight I will purchaseand shut it down until next spring..
Recovering
Recovering, still has a ways to go
Horrible greens
Worst greens I've ever seen. They were watering the greens before I played some holes and cut it off just as I came up. The greens were then soggy and flooded when I tried to chip and put. Tee boxes were sandy with dead grass
Course is getting better
I have played this course 4 times since the new management and today I could definitely tell the golf course is improving. The first 4 greens used to be in bad shape but today I noticed the conditions are getting better. The new staff is also very friendly. I used to be a member at oak bridge country club and I'm hoping with the continued improvement that it will soon be what it used to be. Keep up the good work!
