About
Editor's Note: Course closed and reopen as The Yards.
The Oak Bridge Club (formerly known as Ponte Vedra Golf & Country Club at Sawgrass) in the heart of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., sits adjacent to the famed Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. The 6,413-yard, par-70 Arnold Palmer design features water on every hole, tree-lined fairways and undulating greens. Oak Bridge favors accuracy and strategy over power and distance. New owners have upgraded the clubhouse and introduced a new restaurant, The 3 Palms Grille. A tennis center is home to 10 Har-Tru clay courts.

Needs work
I went to check out the course b/c I had heard mixed reviews. I do not think I will go back (maybe try again next year?). It was a scenic course with lots of wildlife, and the staff was friendly, but the course was not in good condition. If you live nearby and can get a cheap rate ($30 was TOO much), it might be worth playing. Someone will need to put some money into this course to make it viable.
No carts
No carts, not because of so many customers but due to damaged or carts not charged up. Play was unnecessarily slow. Conditions of the course have been better. Very disappointed
Four Fivesomes on the Course
Saturday morning, 9:10 tee time. I'm a twosome so I know we'll be waiting. But there were FOUR FIVESOMES ahead of us. When we finally found a ranger aqnd aqsked what the club policy was he said, Well, they're members. So they make the policy". He did, however, let us jump to hole 11 which put us ahead of everyone. Smooth sailing through the back nine and really no issue starting up on #1 when we finished the 18th. They might want to start groups off on 1 and 10 -- and NO FIVESOMES.
Only the bunkers are still really bad
It was not so bad as I've thought it would be after reading the reviews. Sure this course is not as pretty and well maintained as the close by TPC Sawgrass, but it is pkayable and a different price category. The layout is quite challenging due to many water hazards. Try to avoid bunkers. The sand is old and for sure not soft. Fairways are average, ome greens are a bit bumpy.
I'd definetly give it another try when I am in the area.
Improving
I want to start out saying this course is getting better. The greens were the best I have seen in years. The fairways were ok, the rough is as usual at this course very penalizing and tall. The sand bunkers are very poor. Just need to dump some sand inside. Proshop guy could have been a bit nicer. Drink girl didn't have change, intentionally all day.
Will come again
The course has improved, since last year. The only point i would make better are the bunkers. The sand is hard.
Excellent value for money.
Mixed Emotions
There are such things as lawn mowers. Rain as an excuse aside, the front nine rough was to US Open standards only featuring uncut weeds. Po Anna abounded on the greens. Back nine condition was to public course standards. Pro shop bare. Perhaps thats why the pace of play was so good. Nobody around who knew better. Oh, no cart girl either.
Good Course. Lots of rain lately
Due to the heavy rains lately
the intermediate rough was murder
Fairways were well maintained but you would loose your ball 3 feet from the fairway.
Hopefully we have some dry weather so they can get a handle on the long grass which is everywhere
Not as bad as people say
Yes, the greens need work! However, the lay out is nice. They can't help it, it rained so much. Maybe some more drainage systems need to be put in. I think for the value, it was just fine. Golfers are being too hard on their review's.
Course in disrepair
Ponte Vedra Golf course continues to need considerable maintenance -- weeds, mud, goose droppings, poor drainage, and much more make this course very poor. This is unfortunate because the course was once fairly good and a good test of one's golf skills. PVGC could be that way again if someone would be willing to invest in it
Worn out
This course needs a lot of work everywhere; no money is being invested in improvements. The greens are terrible, wet weather has created numerous problems that just add to the maintenance neglect. Employee's told me that the ownership was being foreclosed on. It could use a rest from daily play to allow it time to recover.
Not much going for it
This is the worst condition I've ever seen on over 100 courses played in Florida
What Happened?
I used to think of this course as a hidden gem in the area. Now the rough is overgrown and uneven, there are drainage issues on almost every hole, plastic piping protrudes from the bunkers, and the greens are bordering on muni-ish. They should consult with the TPC and the re-sod they undertook about 7-10 years ago and shut the place down for a bit so they can bring the conditions up-to-date. Right now, there are certainly better options in the area.
P.V. Golf & CC - Great Sunday
We play this course fairly regularly. The greens are a little rough, but it's generally a good value for the price.
Too wet
Usually play Monday but with weather coming tried to get it in Saturday. It was way too wet, balls were plugging in the fairways. I still really like this course. I will play it again when it dries out.
Ponte Vedra experience
Sand traps were like mud and there was plenty of Geese droppings all over the tee boxes.
Good luck with the carts!
Having played here several times in the past, I was aware of the course conditions. At the best of times, this is a very damp course, being pretty much at sea level, it tends to get a bit swampy with any amount of rainfall. What o wasn't prepared for was having to have maintenance come rescue us twice when our cart stopped running. When I asked about what was wrong with the carts, the manager advised us that when any kind of moisture gets up under the bottom of the cart it shorts the batteries out....how safe is this? We asked for a raincheck for 9 holes due to breaking down twice on the back nine, and were told since we prepaid thru golfnow we had to get a refund from them.I don't see how this is golfnows problem.... And we didn't want a refund....just a raincheck..... Oh well...won't go back there again or recommend it to any one else.
Don't waste your money
This course was in terrible shape, no wonder nobody was on it. The greens are terribly slow and bumpy. Like others have said in previous reviews, good luck finding your ball if it goes in the rough, the grass is very long and full of weeds. The fairways aren't even cut nicely. The sand traps are mud and dirt. There are no water coolers on the course. The cart girl drives around in a regular golf cart with a cooler in the front seat, the beers were dented and covered in dirt and grass. One hole didn't even have the flag stick in the hole because it was broken for who knows how long. The course has a great layout and it's sad to see how far it has fallen from when I used to play there.
Fun course but geens need work!
There is a lot of water and trees to avoid so it's a challenge but it's an interesting design and actually fun to play! Only bad is the greens are not very good, lots of sandy bumpy spots on greens that can affect your score. But overall I enjoy playing this course. It's reasonably priced and worth playing if you live nearby!
Pass on this track.
Hard to believe they allow 'Sawgrass' to be associated with this course.
Many other reviews regarding this course spot on. Greens were pretty bad. No consistency (except bad).
Miss fairway and rough will eat your ball.
Showed up 45 minutes early and no range balls. Kid was sitting in picker and didn't move until only one guy on range tees.
Only plus was playing with my buds and the pace was pretty good. Wide open.
No cart gal and no drinking water on course.
Far too many better course in Jax. I'll not return.
