Two 18-hole courses rest on the 900-acre retreat that is all about golf -- not condos or summer homes. Panther Lakes is the flashier of the two designs at Orange County National, most say, because no two holes are the same. The playing surfaces are lush and the topography is so varied in some areas, some have a hard time believing they're in Florida. The architect made good use of the rolling meadows, grasslands, wetlands and lakes. Visually rich elements saturate the 7,295-yard design.

Always my favorite

I’ve played this course MANY times, it’s my favorite. The conditions are always great. The only thing that I have to complain about was the price and pace of play. The starter went out of his way to tell our foursome to keep up the pace with the two twosomes that were in front of us……. We waited all day and even were told that the ranger was going to give a “nudge” to them. We teed off at 7:30 am.

I have played both courses at OCN at least 40 times over the last 20 years. Played Panther Lake recently and the conditions are awful: tees, fairways, and greens. Weeds are growing everywhere. Too bad, it was once the best public golf facility in the Orlando area. Time for a restoration.

At this price point I was surprised by the condition of the course. Lots of weeds that were all longer than the surrounding turf. Let me balance that with acknowledging that the greens were in really good shape.

We play here a couple times a year and it is always in great shape. The practice facility is very nice and it allows you to work on all parts of your game before going out on the course. I highly recommend it. The 19th hole is great, people are nice. They have been known to run some good specials in the past. The rates went up a little this year which was disappointing -- but not unexpected.
