Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
About
The Golf Club at Terra Lago boasts two 18-hole courses, the North and the South, that provide some of the most stunning and unique views of the Coachella Valley. Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, it was home to the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002, which meant it has hosted a slew of big-name players including Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson. Terra Lago's North Course is the longer of the two at 7,060 yards, which is partly a reflection of the dramatic elevation changes that the golf course tumbles across. From the seventh tee box's lofty perch, you'll get a panoramic view from one end of the valley to the other, making it the golf course's most scenic hole. But it's most challenging is a daunting par 3 with an island green that was the featured hole during the Skins Games.

Tee off at the 3rd hole, North course Photo submitted by jennifersings on 04/22/2013
Poor conditions!
Our 3-some was only able to play 14 holes because of the policy to return all carts by 4:30. Our 1:10 tee time was never going to be able to finish dye to that policy. The 2 people in front of us was VERY S-L-O-W so that added to our frustration. The fairways were in bad condition, but the greens were fast, the sand traps needed more sand! The pandemic has affected this course!
In Poor Condition
This course is in very poor condition this year. The rough is greener than the fairways. The fairway is bare with only small patches of grass. We have not seen the course in such bad shape. We were extremely disappointed with both courses as a few of us also played the South course. Greens were ok. Sand bunkers, even around the greens, were very hard. We all felt we would not return to this course.
Good day but ...
Really enjoyed our round at Terra Lago North until one of the course marshals pulled the pins out on the last two holes, even though we still had enough daylight to finish. The same guy told us at the start that we had to have our cart in by 4:30 pm, which we thought was rather odd because sunset for that day was not until 5:01 pm so we went ahead and finished the last two holes regardless but I've never had a marshal/cart guy pull pins to try and force you off the course before. This was totally not needed and unprofessional and left a a bad aftertaste to an otherwise very enjoyable round.
Do not waste your time or, especially, your money
I could not wait to give this review. The conditions of the course currently are abysmal. The fairways, with the exception of the show holes 1, 9, 10, and 18, are so thin that you could not even bump the ball, there are no tufts of grass to bump to! The greens are similarly thin and the sand traps were hard and had not been attended to. It appears that no overseeding of the fairway and greens had been done and we were playing on the summer dormant grass.. No GolfPass hot deal at any price could make this worth playing. It is regrettable that a course that was once desirable, because of what seems to be an interesting design, could be left by the present administration and ownership to deteriorate into such terrible condition.
Awful
Me and 3 buddies who are all scratch golfers booked 4 rounds in the Palm Springs area. This course was by far the worst. The course conditions are dry and firm and very challenging. But to be honest we didn't even care about that. The service we received in the pro shop was awful. You could tell the staff didn't want to be there. Play somewhere else. We will not be returning.
Why?
At this time of year all courses in the Palm Springs area are in great condition. For some reason Terra Lago is the total opposite. Fairways are brown and greens were very dry. Just don't get it.
One of the pro shop staff was a jerk. When we arrived for our 1:20 tee time we were told we had to have the cart back in by 4:30. I told them it would be nice to know that when booking our time. He said they have been trying to get golf now to put that on their website but they haven’t done it, and he said we were getting a discount rate anyway so basically we shouldn’t be complaining (as if that should matter). Over seeding was really bad and they have the greens painted. We won’t be going back again.
Poorly over seeded. Great layout. Forced off the course at 4:30 for convenience of staff although plenty of light remaining. Not good!
Not great
Nice layout, poor conditions, fairways were bad, greens were bad also. Could be a great course but has been neglected. We were rushed of the course at 4.30pm with 45 mins of daylight left not being able to finish our round. Staff unfortunately were not the most accommodating.
Not Good
Signed up for the TL card in order to get the $78 green fees, however it was still too much to pay for a course in terrible condition. Greens were completely dead and impossible to putt on due to the crazy speed. They painted them green to make them appear alive. The fairways weren’t much better. Almost appears like they either didn’t over seed, or the seed didn’t take. There is also construction on the 10th hole, and they re-route you down the road to get to the tee. However the signage was not good, and we drove around for 10 minutes to find the 10th tee box. At one point we met the group behind us who were also driving around trying to find it. Unless they can do something to get the course back in shape, I would not recommend it. Definitely not worth the price at this point in time.
Greens are like the Rockies
This course is a No from me, the greens are awful, if you hit within 6 yards of the pin you’d be lucky if you 2 putt from there. Grass isn’t really grass but just hard green land. And to top it all off the Marshall was very rude stating he was pulling the pins from 17 and 18 so don’t even try to play them. Mind you it was 4:30!!!! Sun was still up but they kick you off?? Every other course let’s you play til it’s dark and will also let you finish the round instead of very rudely cutting you off. Will not play here again, also got lost all over trying to find the holes with all of the misleading directions. 10/10 wouldn’t play again. For the price you pay you’re better off playing Shadow Mountain. Great course and staff!
fun
it was a fun day at terra largo north..but as usual, the greens were the worst of the worse with undulations galore. Cant read them at all. but it's fun trying..
Others better for money
Played for first time and not impressed. I expected a beautiful Indio/Palm Desert course but sadly disappointed. My wife said it looks like we are golfing around a working mine. Not pretty at all. I was also surprised how wet the fairways were. No grass to give you a good lie. Spend you money elsewhere. Also road construciton around property makes going form some holes very confusing!
