Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Why so neglected.
This course could be so much better. Layout and setting keeps people coming but so little pride in the course condition is a shame. Almost no sand trap maintenance. Fairways are sparse and fringe ares weedy and just a mess really. Water leaks neglected. No food service and a waste of facility and setting. Please just sell it to someone who cares…Brian
Disapointed
I played the course several times in the past and liked it.
The course is in terrible condition now. Very spotting grass, around greens & fairways. No rakes in any traps. Disapointing
Declining
The south course has declined since I last played it, there is only a bathroom at the turn and the 10th hole is a distance from the clubhouse making a pit stop there pretty much out of the question. And through 18 holes we never saw a single bev cart were only able to get water at two stations along the course. Overall the lack of services and state of the course I would not return anytime soon
Mediocre condition but reasonable price compared to other places in the Valley
The greens are in very good condition, tee boxes are pretty good, fairways fairly poor and very rough around the edges. The North course is much nicer.
Pretty sad condition
Having played the North course a few years ago, I was hopeful that the South course would be better than some of the negative reviews, but alas I an unable to provide a passing mark on this course. Essentially the tee boxes and greens are in good shape but everything in between is in very poor condition, scrub grass fairways and sadness bunkers . A massive investment to bring this course up to snuff is required. Pace of play at 5 hours everyone in carts is poor and a tee off after 12.45 is unlikely to finish before darkness descends. A (modest) concession on course by the 10th tee box would save considerable time as many golfers head back to the clubhouse for "supplies" leading to unnecessary delays.
Carts did not work properly no drinkable water on course condition of the south course was deplorable. I will never return to Tyrrell Lago.
The course was good.
The course was in good shape with very nice Greens.
The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
I would play their again. Thanks.
No marshalling and 5:15 round…ugh!
Very disappointed with the horribly slow pace of play-seemed to be from one group of men but no marshalling presence had us backed up with four groups on 10th South tee. No one answered the phone when I called about this over the top slow pace by the 4th hole so I went in at the turn. A person did come out later but didn’t bother to go past the 10th tee to find the problem-instead he just blamed the group in front of them…which was US! This is not the first time the pace left a lot to be desired. We also weren’t impressed with the man who checked us in asking one of the players, “do you have a drinking problem?” when she purchased 3 beers for her and her husband. Sand traps were not tended, hitting off concrete, tee boxes quite rough and uneven frequently. This place has so much potential.
Terra Lago South
I like this course a lot, but lately it needs some TLC. The fairways have a lot of bare spots, bunkers are filled with what looks like gray dirt instead of sand. Slightly off the fairway and the dirt is so dried out so prepare to pick it or chunk it, you can't possibly get your club to take a divot. Most tee boxes were okay, but it hasn't been hit, so you can't say the grass was burned out. It seems like it's not getting enough water. You are better off playing Terra Lago North. It is more exoens8ve, but it is also better cared for.
Golf in Indio
After playing the North course, the South course was somewhat disappointing. The greens were very good and the layout is fun and challenging. The bunkers need a lot of work and hard as rock.
