Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Terra Lago South course.
This course played just like i remembered,(haven't played here in years)tough but nice to play. I imagine those people who gave horrible reviews for this course just couldn't master it. I'd certainly come back.
Another California Course Suffers
Seems just about every course ive played in California has really gone downhill. Terra Lago South is no exception. Restaurant is now closed, theyve stopped overseeding and cut back watering so everything is crusty and dried out. Bunkers haven't been touched and no sand. Remember when they used to be called "Sand Traps". I wont be back. In fact I won't be back to our Indio time share. No point to stay way out here when there's no restaurant and a derilict course. Sad
Great Potential!
With a little more TLC & some additional funding, this course could be an excellent track agin. Some turf management on fairways as they are very thin where the first cut and rough is better to play off.
Great driving range and practice areas.
The person n the Pro Shop needs some customer training. The rest of the staff with bag attendants & starters were great.
no grass
the fairways werer terrible no grass, the rough was great, nice grass
greens good,,would not play again
Course pooly maintained
The course was not over seeded so the fairways were very short and hard. Greens were good. Bunkers were horrible. Grass is growing in the bunkers, haven't been maintained in years and no rakes provided. My cart ran out of juice on 14th hole. I had to walk until a replacement brought out to me. (Did get free beer compensation).
Cart manager went ballistic yelling every obsenity in the book at his junior staff members because they weren't working hard enough. My assumption they weren't trained to know what to do.
I was supposed to play 36 holes but cancelled the afternoon round on the North expecting hte course to be in similar shape.
not the best of conditions
the fairways were a bit rough
The bunkers were hard pan. minimal to no sand.
greens were a bit bumpy in places but speed was fairly quick
No the worst I have played. Given the fees at other courses I probably got what I paid for
Worth the Drive
This course is a bit out of the way, but well worth the drive. Very picturesque. Course has several unique and challenging holes, particularly the bunker positions around the greens. Fairways and greens a bit depressed, but not too bad. Good value!
Tera lago south course
Teed off every early so the 2 groups our 3some followed moved along steady . Tee boxes were good and well marked . Fairways were a little crusty . Greens were a little crusty in spots but firm to the roll . Sand boxes were in hard pan and a deffinate penalty to be in .
Stay away from the bunkers!
You will be way ahead if you can stay out of the bunkers. Those bunkers are wicked! The fairways are in good shape and pretty wide, but there is a lot of rolling and sloping hills. Pro shop people were friendly.
Course is not well maintained
I don’t know the reasons behind it, but the course since Covid, has been allowed to deteriorate. Sand traps are becoming over grown and now play more as waste areas than green side sand traps. Fairways and greens are not watered enough. Worst condition I’ve seen in at least the past decade. It has gone from a top public course to adequate and might still decline from here. Good news is, it can be turned around with a little more grounds care.
Sunny Day
What a beautiful day to golf. Course was in good condition. Greens were good. Everything was good. A beverage cart on course would have been nice. No where to get drinks on the south side. Clubhouse was out of the way when making the turn. The only reason I gave a 3 star on course layout. Why don't you post a beverage cart between 9 and 10 on the south course?
Awful, awful awful
Right from the start the attitude of golf shop staff was deplorable and down right rude. Pace of play was ridiculous taking 3 hours to play 9 due to large groups of overseas slow players, more interested in taking photos than playing golf. Ordered off golf course a half hour before darkness because staff wanted to go home. Fairways have little to no grass. Never ever to play here again, even for free.
Construction and poor maintenance
The fairways and the greens were awful. Not sure what has happened this season. Won’t play here again.
