Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
About
Formerly known as Landmark Golf Club, the Golf Club at Terra Lago was the host of the PGA Tour Skins Game from 1999 to 2002. The club's impressive guest list includes Greg Norman, Phil Mickelson, and Tiger Woods. There are two 18-hole courses available called the North and the South. At 7,044 yards, Terra Lago's South Course is just barely shorter than the 7,060-yard North Course but they are equally challenging. The South is known for having one of the club's most unique and memorable holes, the par-4 second. This narrow hole runs alongside a wide canal that makes anything hit to the right impossible to play. The unique part of the hole comes as you approach the green. To cross the creek, rather than having a traditional wood bridge, the course designer crafted a bridge from an old rail car, which explains its nickname as the "Boxcar" hole.

Fourth hole on the South Course Photo submitted by William4478124 on 02/22/2014
Failing Grade
Terra Lago South course is in the worst condition we have ever seen. Greens are rock hard in desperate need of water, sand traps are over grown with weeds, rough is full of dried up plants and dead palm trees. Many roadways are dug up with detours. Staff in proshop and starters are abrupt, rude and very unpleasant. Such a shame to see this course go downhill again. Appears to be on the brink of bankruptcy.
Challenging course
We enjoyed our round and found the Greens and fairways in very good condition. Will definitely be back again.
South Course
I have previously played the North course several times. This was our first time playing the South course. There were 30mph+ winds yesterday so it was beyond challenging. I will have to play it when it is not windy but I think I actually like the south course better. The greens were in good condition and seemed fast. Hard to tell in the strong wind though. The fairways were in just ok shape compared to all of the other desert courses this time of year. I look forward to playing this course again in the near future. great value for the price.
Don’t start to late
Course layout is good. Challenging. Tee’d off at 1:50 and got to the 14 hole 45 minutes before sunset to get told the carts had to be in.
Booked a 140 pm tee time and was not allowed to finish as carts had to be back by 5 pm and could have played until 540 pm as there was enough light until then and they also they put two foursomes with instructors from the golf school on the 10th hole in front of us which made it impossible to finish. There fairways have no grass on them and was like playing on dirt.At the time of booking their was no mention of carts having to be back by 5pm so do not know if that is on golfnow or terra lago.Needless to say will never play there again.
TL Review
Not until we checked in were we told we would have to finish in less than 4 hours. No golf after 5pm although there is light until 5:30pm. Was told if we didn't like it we didn't have to play. Range was closed so we couldn't warm up. Cart lost juice on the 11th fairway. Had to walk quite a distance back to the clubhouse before we got a ride the rest of the way. A good thing I'm in good shape for a 75 year old man with a Titleist staff bag or I still might be languishing on the golf course. No interest in revisiting Tara Lago.
A lot of fun to play.
Very good course with good degree of challenge. Very Scenic and was well maintained.
Pace of play extremely slow! No marshals monitoring play! We had only 3 players n it took us 4.5 hours to finish. Courses are just taking money they book so close to each other and don’t bother monitoring the pace!
Fairway Grass & Water Stations…we have none
This is always a challenging course, but this year was even more so.
Greens were fast and 2nd cut off of fairways were lush and green. The fairways though were far below standard, because of supply chain issues of no being able to get grass sees for the fairways (so we were told) making for lots of gaps between grass clumps. Don’t even think about putting from off of the green.
Also it was a 85+ degree day and there wasn’t any water available at here normal water locAtions on the course andd no beverage cart. We weren’t notified at check in this would be the case.
