The South Course is the more well known of the two championship golf courses at Los Serranos Country Club. The course has a reputation for being one of southern California's longest thanks to the Jack's Black tees, which stretch to more than 7,600 yards. It is a lengthy test, but it is not as intimidating as it seems. The golf course is forgiving with par 5s that give you realistic opportunities to boost your score, though the course should not be taken lightly. Course management is the key to successfully maneuvering the elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers. The golf course finishes with its signature hole, which is also its longest at 673 yards. A lake frames the hole and accuracy with each shot is essential. It is a playable course, but beginners who aren't yet up for the challenge can try their hand at Los Serranos Country Club's shorter, more player-friendly North Course.

Good but not challenging

My girlfriend and I played out of the white tees. Almost 6800 yards.south course
Some holes have water hazard around the green but not really intimidating. I am a 25 handicap and my gf is 3. We liked the course but heard it was more challenging than what we thought.

Bang for your buck!

What an awesome course to go play. I can hit the ball a long ways, which is one of the reasons this course is so fun. Fairly simple design on most holes, nothing too crazy, but the distance is the real challenge. I recommend playing from the whites if you don't quite hit the long ball as the blues are over 7100 yards. I had a blast playing this course and can't wait to play it again!

A Long Day

This course doesn't manage its pace of play nor does it manage the many players that will cut in front of your group, regardless of whether there is room to do so or not. It's pathetic...

Great and Even Better on a Rainy Day

The course is challenging and increasingly becoming more fun as they continue to improve the layout with new bunkers and trees. There was only one other person on the course that I could see because of the light rain. Played in less then 3 hours.

great greens

Tee time was for 12:15
Did not tee off until 12:35
Club house could manage this better.

Our group ended up playing as a twosome.

2 groups of five in front of us that spent 10 minutes or more each green. Marshal came by once but no change. We finally was able to go ahead of them but not until the 9th hole. Missed playing the 9th and still did not finish 5:15....

Still like the course, but with a little better management of tee time starts this place could be so much better...

Great greens, too bad players don't fix there divots.

Great evening golf

Course was in good condition with all things considered. My only complaint was the pace of play. American Golf managed courses allow 5 somes and I believe that is a contributing factor for slow play.

Los Serranos South

Greens are in decent shape for the amount of play the course gets. Sand traps that have been redone are decent.

Great course, slow start

This course is about the longest you'll play in SoCal and starts of with 2 par 5 holes, followed by a series of 400+ yard par 4's. In other words, your front 9 will be a very SLOW start to a great day of golf. Most everyone is waiting to hit their 2nd shots on the green for the first 2 holes and it was common to see 3 groups on a tee for about the first 5 or 6 holes. The back nine played at least 1 hour shorter than the front! However, the course is really a great test of golf and the greens were outstanding!!!

Long and challenging course.

Well maintained course that can challenge any golfer. The greens were the most difficult, due to sand remaining from airation. Strong winds added to the difficulty, but nonetheless, it was a pleasurable experience. I will definitely return.
