South at Los Serranos Golf & Country Club

About
The South Course is the more well known of the two championship golf courses at Los Serranos Country Club. The course has a reputation for being one of southern California's longest thanks to the Jack's Black tees, which stretch to more than 7,600 yards. It is a lengthy test, but it is not as intimidating as it seems. The golf course is forgiving with par 5s that give you realistic opportunities to boost your score, though the course should not be taken lightly. Course management is the key to successfully maneuvering the elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers. The golf course finishes with its signature hole, which is also its longest at 673 yards. A lake frames the hole and accuracy with each shot is essential. It is a playable course, but beginners who aren't yet up for the challenge can try their hand at Los Serranos Country Club's shorter, more player-friendly North Course.

So slow on a Monday
I had a 12:08 tee time for 2. We were there an hour early. It was crowded and over sold. I assume they took a bunch of walk-ons. They finally got us out 10 minutes late. The starter was frustrated himself. It took over 3 hours to finish the front 9 on the south course. The smartest move I made was to switch to the front 9 of the north course with the starters approval. We never caught up to any group in front and finished 9 holes in under 2 hours. I should have raised a stink with the staff but we were tired and just went to dinner.
Best Bang for the buck
Weekends will always be slow, we played on a Sunday it took us almost 5 hours and 15 minutes to play. The weather was at is best slightly windy however the greens are in spectacular shape and the fairways are in decent shape. You can't go wrong playing one of the best courses in Southern California for 60 bucks. Los serrano's South course is our go to course whenever we need to get in a good round for less money. I would recommend this course to anyone at all levels of play.
Slow and delayed
Tee time 12:15 but didn’t tee of till 12:45 and they said there’s no delay. Didn’t finish the last 2 holes.
One of the worst feeling in the world!!
Poor condition
Greens were all nice. Fairways and off fairways we're poor
Tee Time and Pace of Play
I got a reservation for tee-time for South course at 11:30am. When I pay the fee at pro-shop by 10:50am, they said to me that they will call me in 30 minutes. When I go South course by 11:10am, 8 teams have been waiting for tee-off in front of me. I complained a pro-shop but no change. They supposed to put two or three groups at a tee-time. Finally I changed the course from South to North and teed off by 11:45am. Also there is no marshal to control the pace of play. What the worst management of tee-time and pace of playing!!! They did not refund the difference of fees between South and North courses.
Nice Classic Course
Very good classic layout. The course was well conditioned.
Nice Day at Los Serrano South
Course is in excellent shape. Fairways are well maintained but could be suffering from too much irrigation in some spots. Greens are in superb conditions and bunkers are well maintained. I know because I was in more than seven of them during the course of my round. High handicap players should consider playing the white or gold tees. The white tee is about 6,900 yards.
South course is a great long course
The course iwas in excellent condition .a little soggy in some areas of course. Greens are in excellent condition. Remind golfers to fix their divots.
Fun Sunday
Course was in good shape. Started out with a great pace of play for the first 3 holes. Then we caught up with the groups and they weren’t enforcing ready golf! Needed a Marshall on course pushing slow play.
They allow 5's to go out
Tee time was 10:30. Due to them allowing two groups of five to tee off we tee'd off at 10:45. By hole nine the first group of five was two holes behind and it just go worse. Asked the starter to have them catch up and he rolled his eyes. Five plus hour rounds ruin a golf experience in my opinion.

I played the north course and we too took 5 hours just because the Marshall didn’t want the really slow slow slow group ahead of us to kindly speed it up. The marshal told us, “ohhhh those guys are just having fun!” Well no kidding, we’d like to have fun too but we’re waiting for the 5-some to hurry up and stop taking 8-10 strokes EACH for every hole. We finally passed them on our own and came back to that hole we skipped and at the end of our round. The staff needs to push people along that are just plain dragging.
12 holes in 5 hours
They should not book anyone when there is a tournament going on. They didn't say anything when I checked in. The starter time me about the tournament and it would be 5.5 hours. By that point I had no choice and we had three groups on every tee box.
Lots of angry golfers.
Nice Day on nice course
Luckily, We were the front group, finished little under 4 hours with 90deg cart rule.. Greens are pretty good, few here and there dried spots on fairways.. Bunkers were decent.. Overall good day out to be golfing..
No mention of Aerated and sanded greens
Drove 50 miles to play land Would have been nice to have known that the greens were just aerated and sanded and we're un putttable

I always call during the late summer early fall just to ascertain if the course has been recently aerated. I too learned the hard way ....once.
Good condition, great pace of play
We had a twosome played on Monday, September 18. The course was in good shape and is scheduled for the green aerification until next week. We played fast, and two foursomes let us pass. We finished 18 holes in two hours and 20 minutes!
South course
Very nice but also very long!!!
Would like free refills on soda. They charge $1.50 per refill. Most courses give free refills.
That’s a bummer of an experience you had. Generally Los Serranos is really good, if not one of the better managed courses. Every time I play here, there’s a marshal that not only keeps the pace up, they usually have a club board and make sure people are playing where they’re supposed to be. As afar as price difference, it’s so minuscule that it doesn’t matter. In fact, I prefer and enjoy the north course better than the south course. The. Roth course is more scenic with trees and cooler blind spots in my opinion. I think your bad experience was just a fluke. Now if you were talking about El Prado course management, I’d back your statement 110%.
