It's good
Seriously good value. I could play every week.
Hit and wait
I really like this course but they need to stop over booking! After the 3rd hole we waited 10 min. at every tee box! This really effects your game and isn't necessary! Maybe marshals who can speed up slow
play would be nice! Otherwise great time.
Genuinely pleased
Played on Easter Sunday and found the course to be quite pleasant. The course itself was in good condition and the staff are exceptional. I would not mind playing there again.
Nice set up, giving a decent challenge.
Course is a very fun course to play.
To slow, smart ash ambassodor
I have lived in San Diego since 1971 and have played this course hundreds of times. Usually its an OK golf course and a good value. My last round was disappointing. 12:20 tee time. When we get to the tee box they are backed up three groups. The "player ambassador" is telling each group to hit its first shoot when the group in front of them are still hitting their second. Telling them to hit because they are 260 yards out. I informed the ambassador they I would wait unit after the group in front hit there shots. He comes back with "will you give me 50 bucks if you don't reach them". We would have hit into them if we did not wait. We finished the front nine at 3:30 (over 3 hours), only got 15 holes of golf in total. Two groups of golfers on most tees.
They should be sending groups out at least eight minutes apart.
Heckling customers on the tee box serves no value.
Landscaping
The course needs some serious TLC on all the fairways. It's not fun when you lose several balls on the fairway even after watching where it lands. There seemed to be alot of ground under repair in what seems like every hole..if this can be addressed I will probably come back. But don't take my word for it...check it out for yourselves.
A day of golf is always better than a day of work.
Beautiful day for golf
The weather couldn't have been better for an early February day—80 degrees, no wind, dry, just a great day weather-wise
The greens, for the most part, were in excellent condition, with few exceptions.
The tee boxes were about half in good shape, about half in the midst of repairs.
The fairways were in good shape...few hardpan areas, an improvement over years' past.
All in all, it was al Mission Trails—a fun course to play!
Overbooked
Got off 40 minutes late, took over 3 1/2 hours front nine. Very poor management of a neat location. Won't ever go back.
Tbone
From the parking lot looking down on a golf course with standing water and sketchy looking greens and fairways I thought, "why did I book here to play". Well, never judge this book by its cover, this course was a lot of fun and challenging to play. Aside from the fact that some lies weren't that good because of winter or the maintenance, I WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK AND PLAY IT AGAIN. The greens were true and putts rolled out nicely. Some shorter par fours were risk/reward which could make or break a round but that was the fun part. Worth the ride. No doubt you will enjoy the course, also.
Not impressed
30 minute delay to tee off. Cart broke at 5th hole had to limp it back for exchange. Many parts of fairways under repairs. Very slow pace of play that it didn't seem as marshal was pushing or helping people along. Cart lady did not carry sandwiches this time. No military discount this day. We didn't finish the course due to the slow pace. 1 good thing, the cheeseburgers were delicious.
S*** hole
This place is trashed, worse conditioned course I have played in San Diego..I would be embarrassed if I worked there...slow play to boot..to be fair, the greens very good but fairways don't have grass..good luck!
Greens inconsistent
They charge weekend prices for weekdays between Xmas and New Year's. Ridiculous. Luckily, Golfniw had a time for $10 less.
Greens were inconsistent, some fast, some slow. Hole placement was a puzzler on some holes and the holes didn't seem like they had been fully sunken. It was like mini golf with an elevated hole. I'm a terrible putter anyway, so it didn't really matter.
Won't return.
Starter in the proshop was argumentative. Starter in the hut was great, as was the afternoon barkeep.
Good friends + clear skies = Great golf!
We started the day in a crisp 38 degrees and they even let us off a little early. The first hole is a long par 5 and difficult to par with a driving range to the left, sand trap to the right and finally a drainage ditch waiting for your ball on the second shot. The front nine is more of a target golf session whereas the back nine give you a chance to let it out. It is a course that requires patience and good course management. If you keep you ball out of danger then you can score well on this course. They have a mediocre driving range but they have a great staff. The beer is cold, the food is fresh, and the course is challenging. It's a good way to spend your day!
Travel time
If you are close and are not in a hurry this course can be fun. Most holes are short and the greens are decent. Lots of beginners so play is slow
A hidden Gem
It's a good, fun course. Challenging on the front. Can be long on the back. I would go back
Mission Trails Golf Course
Excellent Golf Course with very efficient and friendly staff. It has a moderate degree of difficulty, good for average and intermediate golfers.
It's a cheap and easy course to play. You get what you pay for.
1. Where are the Marshals?
2. It's no fun having to wait 5-10 minutes on every tee and fairway shot for the groups ahead. From the 1st hole to the 9th hole. The group ahead of us was a 4some. It was a 4 some ahead of them with 2 women. The group in front of us were 1 1/2 holes behind the group in front of them after 2 holes. The 4some in front of the group in front of us were a hole behind the group in front of them. Then you get to the 10th tee and 3 groups are now waiting. Do the Marshals ever do their job on this course?
3. The Marshal on the course who has the water. Make sure he stops at every group on every hole! He pretty much is non-existent on the course anyways. But people get thirsty and like to drink water on the course. You try to flag him down because they skip holes and can't get their attention. I'm thirsty!
4. My group leaves on the 6th hole because course play is too slow leaving me to be a single with a wall of 4somes in front of me. I walk off the 9th green then to be hassled by the Starter on the first tee. Why? Because he can't find me on the list and asks for receipt to prove I paid. Starter, you're are ignored. Go back to your box and get out of my way so I can get in my warm car and go home. I owe you no answers! You're clueless!
5. Get some real starters and marshals who know what their job is. Thanks, goodbye!
The course conditions were quite poor. Usually the greens are in good shape. Right now they're very bumpy. The fairways and rough are always thin. A lot of bare spots.
I know what I get when I play here. And I only play here to mix up my golf routine and it's very cheap as well. Typically I only last 9 holes because pace of play is normally horrid here.
Mostly Dirt
Fairways were dirt and hard. Too many blind shots. Not a fun way to golf.
Always a fun track
When I lived in SD I played here a lot and usually enjoyed it. The course is in better condition now and the greens were true. New golf cars made this a better value.
Not a course
You could not hit a shot without ending up on dirt. This is the worst golf course I have ever played, and the pace of play was EXTREMELY SLOW! We quit after 9 holes. They should have paid me to play the course. What a waste of time and money!
