Mostly Dirt
Fairways were dirt and hard. Too many blind shots. Not a fun way to golf.
Always a fun track
When I lived in SD I played here a lot and usually enjoyed it. The course is in better condition now and the greens were true. New golf cars made this a better value.
Not a course
You could not hit a shot without ending up on dirt. This is the worst golf course I have ever played, and the pace of play was EXTREMELY SLOW! We quit after 9 holes. They should have paid me to play the course. What a waste of time and money!
Busy Saturday - Slowest 9 holes ever
We were there on Saturday November 14th, for our 11:00 a.m. tee time. We didn't manage to get off the tee until 11:15 or so.
We proceeded to wait on every shot... it was so irritating, that we just left after 9 holes. Which took 3 hours to play. We didn't even want a rain check, as it isn't worth the irritation of a 6 hour round of golf. They put too many people out and it causes backups.
On the bright side, the greens were some of the best we've experienced in San Diego.
Pace of play
Standard Mission Trails Stack em and back em up.
Started to play at 12:05. Reached the 18th hole at 4:37. and waited at each hole for the group in front of us. As they were waiting for the group in front of them. This is what Mission Trails Managemnt does. Just how they run this course. It will be a good minute before I go back.
Good solid reasonably priced course
Mission Trails, what can I say, you get what you pay for, and this is a very reasonably priced course for the area, with some interesting holes. Good mix of straightforward, and challenging holes, with some thinking to do off the Tees on the early short Par 4's. Back nine is the better half - so keep some in the tank for scoring on these.
DOn't Play This Course
This course is in horrible condition. There were so many parts of the course that were ground under repair and looked like they had been that way for months... Those portions of the fairways that were not ground under repair had huge patches of crabgrass.
Way too many blind shots; no hole diagrams on the tee box or included on the scorecards.
Do not waste your time or money on this course
Me.
Stuck behind senior groups who wanted to chat all day. Slowest round I've ever played there.
Great value, friendly staff
This is a nice course to play and moderately priced. The staff is very friendly and professional. They all try to make the experience a great one, which it was for me.
Bad service
Showed up on time but the group checking in, in front of us cussed us to be 5 mins late. They would no accommodate our tee time (9:45) and told us that we would have to wait til 11:30. Very poor service..
Best value in town
Greens are in great conditions! Best deal for a above average course.
BEFORE THE ROUND BEGAN
I know this course very well and always enjoys an early morning round, especially playing along Lake Murray.
We arrived at 0535 for a 0600 tee time, there were 8 others waiting outside pro shop while the attendant was preparing for the day. He didn't open until about 0552, then there was a dash for the register. Some were playing 9 holes and others 18, by the time we paid our fees it was 0558. He handed us our cart key and told up to be on the tee at 0600 yet we still had to carry bags to cart, load, drive to !st tee and check in with starter.
We will return but please ask management to open earlier, a sunnier disposition by the staff would also be appreciated. Thank you.
Great course
Had a blast playing the course. Course was well taken care of except for one spot that was being repaired. Not a big deal. Rate of play was fast. I would go back again especially for the golf now rate of 17.99!
Course not in best shape
While the price was right, the course condition was poor. Many dead patches in the fairways and the greens were littered with ball marks (mostly due to lack of being fixed). Food at the turn was a nice outdoor BBQ with friendly staff.
Fun layout
Disclaimer, I am a 17 handicap and am from East coast where I am used to flat courses. I really enjoyed the hilly layout, which was challenging and picturesque. That may be normal for here though. The course was in good shape, and based on the drought suspect it is as good as can be expected. Greens were in great shape, fast but smooth. Breaks were not too bad. Fairways occasionally tight, but usually open areas to find errant shots. Staff and marshall extremely friendly and helpful. Played on a Sunday afternoon in 4 hours which I thought was great.
Mission Trails
There wasn't a starter at the beginning so our tee time was pushed back 20-25 minutes as walk-ons ans stand-bys just went up to the first and started on their own. Once an ambassador arrived, everything fell into place. I have played here many times and this is the first time I have had any issues. I will still play here again.
Enjoyable Day
Clubhouse very accommodating when I got hung up in business meeting, they got us out quickly after our arrival. Course in good shape, greens were fast. Challenging course, DON'T pull the driver out all the time or you will be in trouble. Glad we were paired with couple that had played before. A few bling shots. Overall good day.
First time playing it, ast time playing it.
My buddy and I had heard through some friends that this place was fun, so we decided to check it out. We set up a 11:45 tee time. Arrived at the course at 11:30. we where in line at the pro shop by 11:35. I think they where hosting a tournament because the pro shop was busy. We finally got to the front of the line around 11:42. The guy helping us name Tom was a real jerk. Started giving my buddy and i attitude about being late and how he shouldnt let us play know. Went on about this for ten minutes at one point answering a call and keeping us waiting for 5 minutes. He finally said "get out there and we'll see if we can get you on the course" Left and realized he hadn't given us a cart key. So i walked back in to the pro shop and he answered with "what know?!' a total and complete A HOLE. Starter was a lady with quite a bit of attitude as well. Like this people really dont want to be there. Would make a great course with the right staff. There's 5 better courses within 20min of here. Go there. They'll treat you better.
Dry Conditions
Great pace of play, but very dry conditions due to drought. Very hilly and challenging for walkers. Watch out for those drainage ditches thought out the front nine!
