Green To Tee Photo submitted by gregjm1977 on 03/17/2013
Noteworthy upgrades in course condition; better than ever
I am somewhat biased since Island Pointe has always been my favorite course in East Tennessee. That said, the improvements in course condition are dramatic; firm, fast fairways with no weeds; excellent greens, and the same wonderful layout with every hole unique and distinctive. It does appear that they have slightly narrowed the fairways making accuracy off the tee more important than in the past, particularly since the bordering rough is thicker and the more lateral rough (I got to visit there a few times) much more penal (you will lose your ball if you are too far off the fairway which, in my opinion, is totally fair). I highly recommend the course (again, I am biased), but you will not be disappointed. This is a unique and wonderful golf course.
Beautiful Course
While I’ve been playing golf for 40 years it was my wife’s second season and we both scored well here. Although it is a links style course the fairways are wide and forgiving. The greens are challenging but very well cared for. Great experience all the way around. Staff was terrific.
MLH 52
Everytime we visit the Pigeon Forge/ Smokies we try to play here. The course is in great shape....they have cut down a lot of trees along the river and the tee boxes, fairways and greens are in great shape. Good ( but challenging) place to play.😀
Beautiful
"I'd love to give it fewer stars because it beats me every time I play, but I think that's more on me than the course. The only complaints I have are the sand traps and the elusive, ball-stealing river monster.
Its remote location means it doesn’t have the heavy traffic of inner-city courses, which really helps with the pace of play. Plus, it's absolutely gorgeous. Better players will appreciate it more, but everyone should give it a try!"
Very peaceful course
It’s easy to feel right at home!! Course is always well kept and the food truck at the turn always provides great choices. Would love to see more water coolers as temperatures and conditions increase
Fun
The course was in great shape and conditions were perfect for a fun day of golf. .
Well done
I thought that for a senior/veteran your green fees plus cart
Were a little too high. Otherwise, a nice day of golf.
Beautiful course layout and scenery
I played 18 here as a single on 6/8/24. The staff was friendly and helpful as it was my first time playing the course. As for the course itself it’s in great shape and it seems like every hole has a different challenge to present you with. The pace of play was great they had a friendly ranger out all day we might have waited on two tee boxes all day but just for a few minutes. The only real complaints I had about the course was there were no range balls on a Saturday at noon. They said they didn’t have the staff to gather them which is understandable in this day and age. They told me if I wanted to gather some myself I was welcome to, which I did. Lastly, the carts were a little old and worn down nothing too bad I just would have expected them to be a little nicer being that the course is as nice as it is.
Hidden Gem
Fabulous layout. Very playable. many different looks. great par 3’s. course was in very good shape. will be playing again soon.
Beautiful day at Island Pointe
We played Island Pointe on 5/31/24. We had previously played there a few years ago, when it was River Island. The course was in much better condition. It is challenging, with plenty of water and high rough. But, it is a fun layout and the people working were pleasant and helpful. We engaged with a few other golfers, who were also accommodating. We will be back.
Difficult if not a local.
Loved the course as lots of running water as built around a river. Challenging for anyone especially if not a local resident. Difficult walk to greens from cart for older people like me (75). Fortunately I am not a local. A nice clubhouse would make this place top class.
Great course
Loved the layout with the scenery and the river running through the entire course!
Back to the way it was!
When I first move to the area 17 years ago this was the premier course in East Tennessee. It gradually went, down, down, down… now it’s back to its glory days and beyond!! Nice job, Dan!
Great course
Great course, with eye popping holes.Challenging ,but fair.Great friendly staff in clubhouse and starter.
Will return and play again.
