Great view! Photo submitted by DerekD760 on 10/15/2012
Beautiful views
The coarse is always in great shape. Very challenging for all levels.
How did we miss this course?
Always looking for great deals in the Inland Empire area. Wanted a course in close proximity to our night plans.
Great value for a course hidden in a commercial area. Course was in great shape with the exceptions of two greens.
For the money, this course was an excellent choice for being a great experience and not taking 5 hours.
Playing condition
Course is in Excellent condition, highly recommend you play this course !!!
Tough but playable
this is a higher end course that used to host a Web.com event.... from the whites (which I play), it is a hard but fair course, and if you hit it straight, you can score..... not so straight, and you are in for a long day. This is a course that you will need to play several times to get a good feel for position off the tee on some of the holes, but overall, it was a very solid play.
Great conditions
Course was in excellent conditions. My compliments to the course management as the tee boxes and greens were isome of the best in the Inland Empire.
Watch out for the wind
The course was in great shape, the wind plays a major roll, making this course very challenging for any golfer.
Nice course
Beautifull course and veiw
Good condition
I like to play again
Great layout
This is a real fun course to play. Having read other reviews I was not sure what to expect. For those who were complaining about the bird droppings, well the birds were gone and so were the droppings. The greens hold well and are in great condition. The only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is the bunkers are full of rocks. This is a fun course and will play again.
Watching a beauty fade...
This courses management has fallen considerably since its origination as a Nationwide tour stop. The new owner is apparently turning into another typical municipal course and a lower tier one at that.
He has taken out almost all of the original features that made the course special, i.e the thick difficult rough, waste areas and now the bunkers are mainly dirt as opposed to sand. The greens are spongy when once they used to be glass, Its a shame to see this happen to this course. The staff on duty is a thin crew, dont expect a cart girl and expect a wait at the snack bar as their is only one gal in attendance and she quite often forgets that people need to get back on the course! And forget about the 19th hole, the snack bar is usually packed up and gone by the time you finish.
Hopefully, someone who cares will buy out the incompetent that currently runs this place.
Play while it's still here
I have enjoyed Empire Lakes since it's inception; as many know it's been sold for redevelopment
Play it while you still can-it's a great Arnold Palmer design and in fair to good shape
Better drive it straight and stay out of the grenside bunkers AKA (Dirt Hazard Experiment).
The average course conditions ratings were because the greenside bunkers were terrible. If you're going to let the sprinklers soak them then you need to re-rake them. This is a high end course so I can't believe they don't have one of those bunker raking machines. Luckily I only hit into one fronting the 2nd green. I got under the ball but it still flew over the back of the green. Also I lost a few balls in the gorse less than 10 feet off the fairway which is pretty extreme. They could knock that down some to where you could find your ball but have a hard shot to advance it. The pro tour's not out there every day. The amateurs that keep them in business are. The rest of the course was in top notch shape. But until they clean up the bunker situation I' can't recommend this course to anyone.
good track but you better bring a lunch
I cant believe that a course this nice is this mis-managed, the course was in good shape but they didn't have a cart girl (person) on a weekend!
the snack shop was small and not fully stocked. this is why I say good course but bring your lunch.
Beware of the tall grass just off the fairway it can eat up balls quickly. For anyone that can keep it on the fairway you will still have a good challenged filled round.
Even little things count
The. Course was fine. I was just disappointed in the conditions of the sand traps. While they were recently raked, the traps were still full of rocks. Obviously the
Course management is not concerned about damage to players' clubs.
Good time to play Empire Lakes
Played on a Sunday afternoon and everything was above average! Course was challenging but played fairly definatly would do it again!
Always good
I enjoy playing Empire Lakes. The course is always in great condition.
worth to try !!!
The fairway is great and the green as well. Very windy and unstable , undulating green is fast.... since we played on back-t .....it's hard to control with... challenges course! Weather was really warm but nice scenery . Golf course provided sufficiently cold bottle waters that's very nice. Fun , enjoy it ,I'll be back soon ....
Wind can play havoc
I was out on the course at 10 in the morning. The course was pretty wide open. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the challenging course. It was a little windy, otherwise a beautiful day. A must course if you have not played it.
Bit windy today
Course in terrific condition, nice fairways, greens felt good - not too fast, but quick.
Wind was blowing pretty hard, made for some very errant shots that would have been a fade but blew into a wicked slice.
It was easier to hit a green from a distance out rather that a 120 yd shot. The hi balls wanted to get taken by the wind. The wind definitely put some higher numbers on the card.
They could use a cart girl, got a bit thirsty.
As usual the rough was very deep.
