St.Johns golf club
The course is in very good condition. Greens are running just a little slow but they they are beautiful and coming around. The staff was as usual very friendly and the cheeseburger I had for lunch was very very good.
Good condition, BUT ...
Fairways and greens are in very good condition. Should be a not-so-difficult course. BUT ... What is it with muni courses cutting the rough like it is the U.S. Open? It is very frustrating when you know your ball is only a foot or two off the fairway or green and you cannot find it. Players here are not pros and we don't hit it right down the middle very much. It's not like we are on TV and have 50 people running to exactly where the ball is as soon as it hits the ground. Then there were the gnats and mosquitoes. This course must be the breeding ground for all of North Florida. It's really bad when you cannot line up a putt because you have a swarm of gnats and/or mosquitoes in your eyes, ears and mouth. Not a fun time. We left early because the bugs were so bad.
Best County course I've ever played
Conditions of the course are great greens a little slow. A lot of knats not much you can do about that.
All Around Good Experience
I played this course while on a family vacation in St. Augustine with my dad, brother and uncle. We really enjoyed it. It had poured down rain the few days before but the course showed no effects. The snack bar is great. It was a hot muggy day, and we were able to stop in the air condition and enjoy a hot dog at the turn. The course was in great shape and the staff is as nice as you are going to find. Just watch out for the doglegs. Good drives cost me on a few holes.
Fun clean course
We had a good time here. We had to stop on 14 a bad storm come in on us. The gnats were pretty rough to deal with but we enjoyed and will play this course again.
Bugs
Course conditions were fine. They had just punched and sanded the greens which was fine. However the knats were insanely bad. Most courses spray for this type of thing but clearly they don't. At times you couldn't even putt ect because they were getting up your nose, mouth, ears. It was awful. Gonna have to wait a few months for it to cool off unless they spray or treat the lakes ect.
Green condition....
The course just fixed the green on 7/2, so most all of their greens had more sand than grass, so the condition of the greens were not good at all. I would wait until late August/early Sept to come back to this course again.
Could not believe the pro shop people told me that green condition was good. What are they talking about?
Getting better
Course was in great shape.
Greens were the best we have seen them in years.
The course is falling apart
It used to be one of the best value for the money. Wide open fairway and nice greens. Most importantly good course conditions year round. Unfortunately, it is no longer true. Many of the tee boxes are grassless. Many brown areas on the fairways .....and it is not even June. Greens are still okay. The only constant is the staff. They are always friendly.
Good layout, real good 19th hole the girls the best
Always enjoy playing the county, nice people, they treat you well. Great day.
This course is worth playing
The course was in good shape, the greens were pretty fast which I enjoy fast greens. The staff is very friendly. The front 9 has some challenge holes, but the back by far is more challenging. Be careful on #13 it is a very difficult hole to play the ideal tee shot is probably 150-180 yards to have a good second shot on this par 5..
Slow greens
This golf course has a nice lay out but by the looks of the pin placement they were the same for at least 3 days and the greens were very slow uncut. The pace of play was good 3 1/2 hours. Bunkers were not consistent and were black type dirt not sand. Good value for practice round.
Great day of golf....
A pleasant day on the course. It's been dry in this area but the course didn't show many effects from it. The staff were friendly and the pace of play was comfortable. I will definitely play here again.
Nice Day - Good Value
The course is in good condition overall and the greens were in great shape but needed cutting. They ran slow. Fairways in good shape. Some tee boxes need attention. Overall good day and will come back again after a year or two hiatus.
Great shape for the money
This course is in great shape. Only problem we had, the cart girl only came around once and it was 90 degrees.
Ran up on a snake kinda woke us up though!
Friendly Staff.
Teamed up with two members who were great to play with
Disappointed
Starter was excellent then it was down hill. Rough was overgrown weeds, no grass. Was first time we played this course on our annual golf outing in St Augustine, and this course is off our list.
Decent
Some good holes and overall decent layout. Greens were about an 8 on the stimp meter---pretty slow but consistently so. Reminded me of the greens we were used to 50 years ago. Good value.
needs work .
GC needs a lot of work . Greens were spotting , tee boxes need work also . Always seems to be wet .
on vacation
interesting playable layout. Friendly staff. Fast greens. Good pace. Good value
