Mountain View at Desert Willow Golf Resort

About
The second of two Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designs at Desert Willow resort in Cathedral City, Mountain View is a little shorter (6,913 yards) and boasts wider fairways than the Firecliff Course.
There are also half as many bunkers as at Firecliff. Which still means there are 98 here.
Still, water comes into play more on Mountain View. The course name is no misnomer either. Golfers actually do get great views of the Santa Rosa Mountains as they take on Hurdzan's desert landscaping. This is resort golf with real nature touches.

Desert Gem
Absolutely stunning, beautiful and beautifully maintained course. Exceedingly picturesque views on many holes, speaking to the course, holes & greens surrounds directly. Rivals and bests scenes you've seen on TV watching the pros play. Fairways for the most part immaculate and splendid to hit off of, be it iron or wood or mini driver off the deck on a long par 5 2nd shot, to hopefully get darn close in 2, or at least right in close around there if you strike it well. Noticeable right as you're driving in for the first time, (it's about a 1/4 mile driveway) you catch a glimpse of a hole or two and for me at least you get a hint that you might be somewhere special. That thought was confirmed handsomely, from the moment I was greeted and interaction with staff, so gracious, kind, cool, welcoming & professional. Really was comforting, made me feel relaxed at ease and like I belonged there and was someone special....(I'm not). So I really appreciated that elite level of service that was so human, natural and unpretentious, which isn't always a guarantee. Especially given that it's a premier level facility, so they do sort of have that right to be a little uppity, but there was absolutely none of that at all. The only difficulty was it being mid-August and a weather service heat wave bulletined muggy 115 degree day. So I rightly chose to turn around after 12 and made it back to the clubhouse just as early stage heatstroke symptoms began to set in. I did have a little collapse right then, but the staff further proved their hospitality is not merely an acting job. They took great care of me until I felt ready to make if over to my car. Can't wait to play there again in the winter months of Southern California
Poor experience
Very poor customer service experience. They have GC has a policy where they don’t allow ride alongs in the same cart. They force players to ride with each other.
My wife is a cancer survivor that enjoys to ride along and watch us play. GC policy is so strict they won’t even let me pay a ride along fee. They want me to pay another full players fee. How ridiculous is that? I have never experienced such an inconsiderate facility and I will not return to patronize until the policy is changed to a more customer friendly philosophy.
Nice course but very expensive
I guess you get what you pay for, however this course is very expensive. Not used to paying over $300 CAD to play golf. It's definitely nice to play once, but there are other great courses in the area that are way more reasonable.
One of the best
I love playing here. It beautiful and very playable with wide fairways and large greens . It’s a fun course one if the best in the desert
Mountain Course
Great facility, water machines and ice on every 4 or so holes. Grass was pretty lush i must say. Very open course. Greens were a little bruised but overall had a great time
LOVE this course!
Nice layout & beautifully landscaped. fairways & greens were in great condition.
