Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.
Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.
The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Best in Destin
Luxurious and bar set setting, this was the best course I played all week. Although it was insanely difficult, the beauty and pristine condition overshadowed my score of + too many. It will be a staple for future beach trips.
Pace of Play is an ISSUE!
I have played Reggatta many of times and everytime I have played here the pace of play has been horrible! The Marshall does not do anything about it. The last 2 rounds I have played there have been a 5 1/2 hour round and a 5 hour round. Golf is not enjoyable or worth the money if it takes the entire day to play and you wait 10mins between each shot

This course was in great condition
I played at Regatta Bay while in Destin for vacation. The staff was friendly, and the course was in excellent shape. I booked on GolfNow and got paired up with 2 members. They were both very friendly and great guys to play a round with. I would recommend playing this course.

Best in Destin
I was blown away at the beautiful layout and the difficulty of the course. As a 23 handicap, it started off well but from the 7th hole on, it swallowed golf balls with water and tight fairways. A birdie on 17 carried me to the clubhouse on a high because the +35 for the day left me humbled. I’ll be back next year to break 100. The white tees may say 6100 but it played like 6500.

Perfect day!
Our foursome had a great day! The course is in incredible condition. It is a great track that is a good choice for most handicaps. We play it every summer while on vacation. It is immaculate and the staff is super accommodating! We like it because it is so nice but not uptight or rigid. Also get a bloody Mary from the bar to go!

Good Value for a decent design.
I have played Regatta before but had been 12 yrs ago. The course had received about 4 inches of rain in past 48 hours. The range was closed but they could have easily moved us to hitting off the mats. The starter wasn’t very friendly and first thing he said was I might should take a lesson from the guy hitting chip shots on the practice green. Then he complained that groups were taking too long on the first box. Well, probably most people hitting two drives off of one since you didn’t let us warm up off of the mats !! Very disappointing. Prob won’t be back.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Regarding the driving range, we don’t close it because of the hitting surface, we close it because we can’t drive the picker out there to retrieve range balls when it’s that wet. It’s not an option when it’s that wet. Sorry for the inconvenience. Our chipping and putting facilities remained open despite the heavy rain. As for your interactions with our Starter, we can definitely do better and will coach them up accordingly. Thanks again for the comments, we listen, learn and improve with every one of them. Incredible fun challenge
It’s always a pleasure to play, Each hole presents a different challenge with decisions to make on how you are going to attack each hole. Conditions were impeccable. The greens were the best I’ve seen from any course in the area the last few months.

Over priced
Course was in good shape. The guys outside collecting tee times were friendly and enjoyable to talk too. Went on Fathers Day and brought my son. Had to pay $45 just for him to ride “as a spectator fee”. Seemed as if trying to get as many people as they could with tee times. Had 3 groups on each hole the entire round. Beautiful course but won’t be back for the amount I paid.

Surprised
Ok I think Regatta Bay is the best course in the area. With that said I am surprised that they didn’t close the course yesterday during dangerous weather conditions with lightning strikes all around. The whole course was cart path only and so wet you were squishing water with every step and basically hitting mud shots all day from every where except when the ball was off the tee.

Regarding the weekend storms, we did suspend play several times as storms rolled through and always send messages to players on the course to seek shelter when appropriate. Ultimately players decide for themselves to come off the course for a rain check or wait the weather out and continue play.
