Crooked Cat at Orange County National

Just moved into the area and its an amazing place ! Always in great condition and staff is excellent, and always helpful. The greens are amazing and always running true. I would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a great gold course!

For the money in the greater Orlando area, you cannot beat this course. They have an awesome practice area. My only knock on the course was that the fairways are too hard. Almost impossible to take a divot. The bunkers needed help. They are very inconsistent from one to the other in both sand quality and depth of sand. Almost no one rakes them either which is very frustrating. I would suggest that they put more rakes out. There were several bunkers with only one rake and given that most people are lazy, they don't see the need to walk to the other side to get the rake. Greens were amazing and very fast. They rolled true and were well taken care of. Would like to see more of a clubhouse 19th hole vibe but at the end of the day, it is a municipal course. Great deal for locals.

The golf course was in great shape. The greens were running fast and hard. My group had an awesome time.

The course at Orange County is nice but the pace of play is terrible. 5 Hour play with no ranger in the afternoon. The play got very slow because there were 2 groups that were inserted into the tee sheet. There was 2 groups talking on one tee box with the par 5 completely open ahead of the 2 groups. When we asked them what was up they let us play through. We still played in 5 hours after skipping 2 groups. If you like long play then this is the course for you. I would not recommend playing at Orange County National.

The pace of play was just flat-out terrible. 4 and a half hours to complete 16 holes (played the 17th in darkness).I

I was in a 4 ball and we had to wait on every shot; it was tedious and I can't see myself returning to play here anytime soon. There were no marshalss to move the slow groups along.

Orange Cty Nat'l is awesome facility, great practice range & short game zones. I got there early (almost hour drive from East Orlando by UCF) to hit balls & practice, but as I passed by Starter stand for Crooked Cat, I gave him my name & designated time, he says if I want to join 3some on tee I can. Well, so much for practice, if it saves me an hour, but the first few holes showed the Clevelander in me, especially the wedge game and putting on these fast smooth greens. The layout is awesome, and we did play a forward set of tees (which at my age -66, I didn't mind & should continue along that trail from now on), so a Birdie #9 left me with a pretty good score. I couldn't get off the BogieTrain on the back9, even a Dble on #13 (waterball & poor putts, so 5 was a gift on the card) .....but play started to slow down considerably. Not only did our group have troubles, but groups in front got backed-up, and we had to be careful not to get hit by the "bombers" behind us. They were no doubt hitting irons into the par5s, but the quick greens & tough pin placements kept the course record in tact. My "amenities" downgrade was due to restaurant closed early, but the ProShop/starter/cart-boys were all pleasant & welcoming, even to this old cheapskate that utilizes GolfNow discounts ............and I sure enjoy & relish the choice to play OCN.

Greens were very speedy. My only complaint was the rough was yellow and cut about the same length as the fairway. I guess that's due to the time of year. Otherwise, a very nice course.

Very friendly staff when I paid found out veterans get a lunch or bucket of balls. Very nice. Starter got us out with another 2 some early. Was great. Ranger coming out telling us about his AK 47 wasn't the greatest guess he thought it was. Very enjoy able time

Very fun course that’s keeps you thinking. A freeze hit a week prior so the Bermuda rough was dead looking. But it made the course more fun as the greens and fairways really stuck out. Greens were rolling great. Only drawback is the pace of play was extremely slow. Little over 5 hours to complete.

Course was in great shape, greens on the fast side, staff very cordial and professional in their approach. Back 9 was extremely slow pace but Ranger did tell us he spoke with the group holding up the field, did not help much…much thanks to the waitress (had the long blonde plats) in the restaurant who accepted my order a few minutes before closing with no rush to eat and leave. Be back before I leave town and do recommend without hesitation.

Great course but pace of play was terrible. One group seemed to hold up course and instead of having them skip a hole, the rest of players suffered. Great weather day and course in good shape but waiting on every shot not enjoyable.

As a Single this day, I got joined with a 3some on the Tee, so I did not get a chance to warm-up on the range or hit any putts. We played from a forward set of markers (which they have at least 4 pads), and that didn't bother me at all, cuz at my age I can make Bogies on most any length course. The course looks funny, almost like an Arizona desert course --brown sides of rough due to dormant grasses, but fairways & greens are awesome. Fact is OCN has exceptional putting surfaces, among the best in Central Fla (including Private Clubs). The greens are such that you could find some diabolical pin-positions, and we contended with a few today......at least I claim that my excuse for 3putts. I did Birdie #9, so good shots can be rewarded. Also, I like to comment on the Practice Facility, probably the best 360* range, short game bunkers & greens, monster putting green ......all of which you could/should spend hours on without even playing the 2 spectacular OCN golf courses.

Really enjoyed the course.

Challenging yet playable for higher handicaps.
