Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course
About
John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.
Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.
While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

Golfer Reviews
You must play
First playing this course and it was cart path only due to rain. Yes rain in AZ. Staff is awesome and accommodating. Pace of play was great considering the cart path only rule. Views on the back nine are worth the drive out to Buckeye. A tee box for every level of player.
NICE! NICE! NICE!
Course was in very good condition. Fairways were like carpets. Greens weren't at their best as this is summer and the Bermuda has taken over. But overall one for my favorite courses. Very well worth the price!
Excellent experience
Great course. Greens rolled true. Better than the victory course. Nice friendly clubhouse staff. Must play.
Great layout, not your typical course
I liked that from the moment I walked up to the carts the staff was very friendly and helpful since it was my first time and didn’t know where things were. The course itself had unique layout which was friendly play but still offering challenges on each hole. I’m looking forward to playing this course many more times.
Verrado Is a great golf operation
Two great tracks with completely different personalities! Today we played the Founder's course, which is always a pleasure and a challenge. Plenty of diversity in the holes. It's easy to be deceived at the tee box with what looks like a wide open fairway... but it just takes playing it once to know you better have some strategy about where you want the ball to go, instead of thinking it's wide open, I'll just try to put it in the short grass anywhere. The facilities and staff are great, we will definitely return.
Best Experience I’ve had this summer.
I work at a golf course in Phoenix, and during the summers my coworkers and I play all the different courses around the valley. So far this summer this was by far the best experience we have had. Fantastic course in perfect condition. Not just summer condition either. The course was in good condition for winter expectations. For $60 and a meal included at their restaurant there has not been a better deal I’ve found. Would recommend to anyone and will certainly be back
Fun day
Heat was at 115 but there was plenty of water on the course. Grass was browning up in a few places (to be expected with record heat) but fairways were well maintained and greens rolled true. Course maintenance were water and taking care of course. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful
