About
John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.
Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.
While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

Diamond in the Desert
Although outside of metro Phoenix, definitely worth the trip. In awesome condition- the greens were as close to perfect as you can get, fast and fair. A shot makers course, - if you're offline, you are unplayable.
Good mix of holes (short/long, challenging/easier, uphill/downhill...).
And entire staff (from bag drop, to shop, refreshment cart, to the restaurant, which is a must do) were awesome.
Will definitely be back.
Welcoming staff.
Despite some computer issues at check-in, the staff made sure it didn’t slow down getting everyone out. Well staffed to make sure having a good time on the course and at the 19th hole.
Very enjoyable
Great course. Wide fairways but plenty of bunkers if not straight off tee, Course in great condition. Long way to drive from Mesa but will do again.

Great course. Super windy and made it really tough to play. Will go back for sure.
Pin placement messed up !!
The ranger warned us on the first tee box that the pin placement was the incorrect number, but even he was wrong. Very disappointing when such a nice course can screw up something so easy. All we get is sorries, how about free replay with the right pin information?!!!!
Great Design
A very enjoyable course with great strategy throughout. Very playable off the tee, for the most part and the combination of length and green complexes made for a good challenge.
Staff doesn't care
Very disappointed in the staff of this course, we played the front nine in 1:50, and the back in 2 hours and 50 minutes. We had a 2 some in front of us that practiced on every shot and putted numerous times, we didn't see a ranger on the back 9 at all. Talked to the pro shop afterward and he acted like he didn't care to hear it. Would never play hear again
Fantastic Course!
Always enjoyable playing this course ... one of my favourites. It was a wee bit slow today, but still on cart path only after overseeing so understandable. Can’t wait to come back!
