Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course
About
John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.
Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.
While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

Enjoyable Golf
For this time of the year, conditions were great. Very friendly organization with no need to even visit the pro shop if you pay in advance. The course layout is solid without being overly difficult and fun to play. Nice driving range too.
Great layout
Love this course. Great conditions and true greens. Staff very attentive and welcoming. Restaurant has great selections.
Great course
Love this course even though it has challenges. It gives you an opportunity to use many clubs in your bag. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Super fun Day
The course was excellent in all the important aspects. We had a great round and it was worth more than the discounted price we each paid. Big kudos to the facility staff for keeping the course superb. Definitely recommend !!!
Fantastic
Unbelievable course. Definitely one of my favorite courses in the Valley.
Disappointed
This used to be one of the best course in the area and state. The grey tee boxes are not flat and are in bad shape. Most of the greens are dying or maybe recovering from being dead. On hole #1 they had the pin location directly in the middle of a dead spot. Didnt seem like they were watering much compared to Victory. Maybe they are just putting all their money into Victory?
Dave’s review
Course was in good condition considering the hot summer we’ve had. Staff was very welcoming and polite. Lucky to hook up with 2 other singles that were a pleasure to golf with.
Verrado
First time out playing the founders course, have played the victory a couple times and can’t go wrong with either. The Founders is a much more traditional desert course where as the Victory is a tad more memorable taking advantage of a lot of white rock to give the course a totally different aesthetic than most local desert courses. As far as difficulty goes the workers at their respective courses will both tell you theirs plays 3-5 shots harder. In my opinion they play about the same difficulty. Both courses are in SUPERB condition for the price the only two differences I noticed in surface quality was the founders course may get a taaaad more water giving it slightly greener grass and more prominent rough however the victory course being the newer of the two had pure white sand bunkers that you would find on tour. I drive the 45 minutes from the Tempe area and would do it every time if I could get my buddies to agree. The Verrado courses are easily my favorite places to play. After 3 years of driving around this desert trying to find the perfect round I am pleased to say the search is over. Oh and your greens fee at either course includes unlimited use of their scenic driving range fully stocked with fresh pearly Taylormade practice balls. If you have any desire to play either of these two courses pull the trigger and make it happen.
