Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course

About
John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.
Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.
While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

Green Holes Poor
Entire course is in great condition with only 1 exception. The holes have not been moved lately and greens have been punched and sanded making it very difficult to play straight up. Basically just declared every hole to be 2 putt default. Speed varied greatly between holes. Give this course a couple of weeks and greens will be back to normal.

This is the best course I have played since I moved to Buckeye AZ. So many courses within 30 minutes' drive time for me. I understand the higher prices during the fall/winter months. I played in the 108 degree weather. Plenty of ice water Gatorade. Fantastic views. Real friendly staff. Nice range to warm up. Course was in fantastic condition. Greens were being aeriated but very putt able. Going to go back for sure...if I can get a deal again.
What a beautiful golf club
Had a great time at Verrado Founders course. Beautiful scenery, saw tons of wildlife, cart girl was around often with great options. Hole 14 is gorgeous. Can’t wait to come back!
Wasn’t aware
The greens were just plugged 2 days before, made putting impossible. Ball bounced all over.
Would have been nice to know this prior to playing. Messed up an otherwise great day.
Golf
Excellent course for beginners to pros. Beautiful backdrops.
Founders vs Victory
Played both courses. Found I liked the Founders better. Victory had a few "tricky" holes with blind tee shots or blind approaches to green. Slowed the round down just trying to figure out where to go.
Founders is more established course. Found it fun to play, and will return.
Pace of play SLOW 5HRS+
One of the best times to play in AZ due to the snowbirds have left, prices have come down and the courses are still in good shape before the overseed. The course itself was challenging with fast, slopey greens. Some good, others OK with some bumpy ball movement. Pace of play was ridiculously slow, over 5hrs for the round. We had to wait on every hole and watch the group in front of us tee off and they were keeping up w/group in front of them.
Amazing!
This is a beautiful course with friendly, helpful staff. Wish I could play it everyday.
