Northdale Golf Club

We usually look forward to playing Northdale. The layout is both challenging and forgiving. Each hole has its own unique characteristics and are not forced to conform to the available space. However, this was the first time that we all felt the greens and fairways were in poor condition. Sandy and bare spots on the greens made for an unsatisfying experience. Finding grass consistently on the was fairways even more frustrating.

I’ve nmever played on a course in worse condition than Mapledale. I’ve been playing golf for 65 years.

You can see the improvements being made. The course is starting to get better. The new superintendent is doing a great job to bring the golf courses back to its old days.

I had a great time, started was very friendly and pro shop staff very friendly but spotter was very rude, I was playing alone on the back 9 and a group of 3 let me play through and after my first stroke the spotter can over and started very rudely telling me that I “ can’t just take a cart and skip holes and groups to play golf” insinuating that I hadn’t payed or played the front 9. My response was for him to ask the single behind me and she would verify my story. He replied “ sure she would” and went asked her. Well after that he didn’t come back and also didn’t apologize for assuming that I snuck onto the course.

The course was in terrible shape. There were so many bare areas and the greens had bare areas all over. I’ve played here so many times before and this was the worst I’ve ever seen it.

This course has gone completely off the rails. It has to be the worst golf course in the Tampa area right now. There are huge patches of sand and dirt all through the tee boxes, all through the fairways and even on the greens. If you hit a shot in the middle of the fairway there’s a 90% chance it’s sitting in dirt or dead grass. To make matters worse we didn't tee off until about 30 minutes after our tee time because of how backed up it was. Was supposed to tee off at 1:24 pm and didn't even get to play the 18th hole because it was too dark. Probably saved ourselves another miserable hole. Don't waste your time or money coming here for the foreseeable future.

The course is in awful condition. Wait until the grass is back and the greens are in better condition

I’ve been playing this course off and on for over 30 years and the current course conditions are deplorable. Greens, fairway, around the greens, tee boxes, it doesn’t matter where you are or pretty much which hole you’re on there are issues on every single hole. I would avoid the course right now unless you’re wanting just to play golf and not looking for decent conditions.

All the staff are great, course needs a lot of maintenance

Let me preface this by saying I believe the course is under new ownership to try and bring the course back to what it once was. Northdale used to be a prime spot to play golf and you can always be assured of quality/fast greens. I moved away from Tampa about 2 years ago and saw this deal and jumped at it. The opening tee box was pretty beat up but the green was a disaster. Bad looking patches, sand, black craters, just poor up keep.

Again I believe the course over the summer has underwent new ownership so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt and more importantly time to fix the golf course, but until that happens, I would not recommend Northdale at the present time.

This course was allowed to deteriorate. Keith has been brought back to put things right under the new ownership. He'll be earning every penny.

Wishing him luck, but the jury will be out for a while.

By all means, give it a try if you want to support the effort, but don't come with high expectations in the short term.
