About
Northdale Golf & Tennis Club remains one of the premier Tampa golf courses because of its affordable play, its use of water on 11 of 18 holes, bunkers, rolling undulations and contoured greens that really challenge players. Just 12 miles north of Tampa International Airport, this is a neighborhood golf course with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that will add to the enjoyment of your day. Course conditions were horrible
I've played on some courses where the conditions were horrible. But this is one is in the top 5 worst ones.. The tee box was flooded, and not from the rain, but because they had left the sprinkler on all night. We were one of the first ones to tee off that morning, and we couldn't even tee off, because that had an inch of water in it. Some of the greens were so bad, that you couldn't tell if they were
a sand trap or the green. And as I played along the course, several times my ball had rolled into deep ruts in the grass from where golf carts had gone over and dug a trench when it was either raining or had flooded from poor water management. I didn't even play the entire 18 I stopped at the 9th hole. Personally I won't be back.
Poor condition
The course is in bad shape, both fairways and greens. Pace of play was super slow. Players would hit several balls and didn’t let you play through. It was the longest round of golf ever. Course layout is nice and staff is friendly.
Decent law out in horrible condition
We played with my wife and found the course in very bad shape, flooded in some areas.
No good in wet season
This course is really in bad shape due to wet season. Many holes are unplayable. To wet for them to maintain so grass is long, fairways and roughs dug up from golfers that don’t stay on golf path. Sad to see this course in such bad condition.
Closed down?
Showed up to the course for an 8:50am tee time on Sunday to no staff being there at all. No pins. No carts. Pro shop locked up. No signs anywhere. There were plenty of others there as well. If this course isn’t closed they certainly need to do something for all the people who dedicated their time that day to coming to their course. Unbelievably unprofessional.
Very Sad
I have played Northdale many times. But this times was horrible, the tee boxes ,fairways and greens were abysmal. I know it’s hard to keep courses up to par,but this was bad. I’ve been to so many others courses this summer and non were in this bad a shape. Sorry for the negative review, but I had treated a family member and was kinda embarrassed by the conditions
Sad
Work being done to improve course- appreciate that it needs it. However- front nine closed, play back nine twice. ( I didn’t play twice- once was enough) Resulting in slow
play with all golfers packed into same 9 holes. Back nine greens had been aerated and sanded- basically unputtable. No indication of these conditions when booking on Golf Now.
Friendly staff
First time playing this course. Staff was excellent . If you are new to golf this is a good track to play. If you are an experienced golfer not so much. Track has potential. Staff was very kind and gave us a heads up on the conditions. If I lived in the area I would play again. Pace was good as long as the price.
Needs Work
I’m always searching for new courses to play in Tampa with the huge amount of places. This one came up on GN at a decent price and the photos looked pretty good on Google. After arriving, I found that there was no range to warm up. They did have a net for a couple people if that works for you. The putting green seemed ok which is where I spent my time getting ready. My tee time came up but they have no system in place for organizing tee times, nor did they give me anything about how/when to go. Tee boxes had grass as high as the tee, at least when the grass was present. No way of knowing the fairway from the rough. Bunkers were harder than the fairway with most of them missing rakes. And the worst part for me was there were maybe 5 total distance markers on the entire course. A blue 200 yard stake here and there. Every par 3 was a guessing game for distance as none of the tee boxes had markers. Someone just getting into the game can make a fun day here, but still not get the real experience of golf. This should cost $20 to play IMO.
Maintenance
The course is a very good one, but needs attention. Fairways, greens and bunkers were in bad shape. I have played at this course before and saw it in excellent condition. I will said it could be lack of attention due to it’s rainy season. They did receive new carts. Which tell me they are investing in the players needs. Overall I will say it’s worth the money I paid to play and will come back again.
New Golf Carts
I had the distinct pleasure of using the new golf carts first that was the peak of the experience, greens are rough, the fairrufways are no fun to play on and the cart paths well let's say my back will hurt for a few days from that experience. Hopefully, the new carts are a sign of new management or something because I won't be back until they fix the course.
Fire ants
Fire ants everywhere! Would never come back to this course. Cart does on the 4 th hole and my ankle have been itiching for a week now.
