Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

Anvil Hoffman is a challenging course that is always fun to play. The greens were especially nice today.

The course is tough enough but in a windstorm. Never again Greens are normally fast but the wind dried them out so bad today you couldn’t chip on without running thru

Great course conditions, good pace of play, nice staff.

Conditions good especially considering winter time. Challenging course with good greens.

Some three years ago, I had such a bad experience with the staff as well as the other players and I thought I had enough. GolfNow suggestion drew my attention to this course and returned to see if I should put this course on my favorite golf courses and I am not sure yet. Probably I will return a couple of times more and then definitely determine.

They seem to be still overbooked and a bit pricey. Normally we play 18 holes in 3hrs 20 minutes or 3 hours 45 minutes for 18 holes, whether twosome or threesome. Today it took us, just two of us, 4 hours 48 minutes. Dialouged with the players assistant and he said that it was slower today due to the tournament players before us but usually it is busy anyway. Usually players complete 18 hole- round in 4:25-4:45 hours.

Greens are fast and solid and the fairways are we maintained. The yardage signs need to improve, as well some tee boxes need some close attention due to geese and turkeys refuse. Scenery and the course design are one of the best in the greater Sacramento area. We will try to come back on non-tournament, no- Mondays.

Landed a great last minute deal for last spot left at Ancil on a Thursday morning. Weather was good, greens and course were in very good condition, and even the pace (which can be very slow here) was excellent. Finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes. Good practice facilities, well organized starter and had marshal out on the course. Other than bad putting, it was a great day.

Ancil Hoffman is in excellent winter condition. The golf course exceeded my expectations. The greens were firm and fast--outstanding shap and condition. Grass on the fairways was in shape. An outstanding layout. Tight fairways and small, sloping greens. A very challenging course. Had an excellent outing.

I haven't played at Ancil Hoffman or any course as a matter of fact in the last 10 years. Circumstances took me away from the game I use to play regularly. Now my son has taken an interest and that has rekindled my competitive desire for the game. To date we have played 80% of the main courses in the Sacramento area. Ancil Hoffman which was my favorite many years ago has now become 'Our' favorite course. The course is always in great shape, the staff is always helpful and they make sure that you're enjoying your play. From the Marshall's making sure the pace of play is adequate to the girls driving around the refreshment cart, all makes for a great time. The mature course is quite challenging with many dog legs lined by huge trees and distance challenged fairway and greenside bunkers. To my son and I the course has a nice and relaxed calming effect, especially today as we made the turn to the 10th tee it started to rain, by the time we reached the 18th tee box it was really coming down! It didn't matter to us though because it was one of best complete games we have had simultaneously. As we were walking up to the 18th green in our rain soaked clothes, determined to putt out and being the last golfers to finish, I asked my son why he thought we both played so well? His answer "Cause it's Ancil Hoffman Dad" Making great memories! Thank You!

Overall course in good shape. Plays well in wet conditions. Greens are rolling nice.

OK COURSE. SENIC. FAIRWAY GRASS SPARSE. LOTS OF LEAVES, HARD TO FIND BALL....WILL TRY AGAIN IN SPRING

Only course in sacramento with a cart path only after 20 minutes of rain. Usually love this course. But that was a huge turn off. The amount of people wearing jeans was a bummer too. Not the same course I remember.
