Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

This is a challenging course but really fun! Green are always in great condition and lots of practice areas while you wait. They also have a golf lesson area with video.

I booked my round on GolfNow. Tee time 11:16. Prepaid. I showed up 25 minutes before my tee time. When I arrived at the starter, he asked my name. When I gave it to him he acted exasperated. I asked if there was a problem. He said I was late for my time. I questioned how this could be if I was standing there before my time. He began to rudely scold me for not being earlier. I let him know that there is nothing noted when I booked that I needed to be “earlier” than I was. He then again, rudely, stated that he always comes to his time an hour early so he could practice. I’m assuming he wanted his job. And perhaps he gets some free golf as a part of his compensation. I get that being a starter can be challenging at times. But there is no excuse for his rudeness. I WILL play here again. I will probably show up a little earlier. But I will NOT respect a person who represents this course family by disrespecting their guests!

The course was in great condition & the pace was good.

Course was in very good shape. Everything was great except for the pace of play.

On vacation this week my third round in 4 days.

Nice fun course with lots of trees. Stay in the fairway and it’s an easy day. In the trees and it’s a different story.

Played in very warm 88 degree weather. Always a challenging layout. Greens quick but a little bumpy and need to be "rolled." Greens may end up being a concern by late summer in a few months. Too much play during COVID-19, as this course never closed. Still a lot of play. We teed off at 12:25 p.m. and it a reasonable 3 hours and 55 minutes to play, but we had to wait on every shot on 16 of the 18 holes because the course was very crowded. Tee to green in excellent condition. But due to so much play, the greens look a little worn.

Overall, course was in great shape. Our tee time was at 10:20 am. We had got backed up right off the bat and had to wait 5-10 min per hole before we could tee off. The greens are looking great other than people not fixing their pitch marks. Is that so hard to do? But Ancil is a great walking course. There are no long spans between the hole and the next tee box unlike some courses.

Another full price round without my senior discount. Ancil is a great track and is mostly in great shape. Today we had a very nice cart girl serving the course. With no water on the course the cold drink offerings were just in time. Pace of play was terrible took 5 hours. Saw a Marshall on the course but his cart didn’t appear to have any brakes as he was continually driving along practicing perfect social distancing

But on a 83 degree day one can’t gripe too much.

Will be back.

This was the first time playing here in many years and I forgot how much I like it. I would recommend playing if you enjoy golf on a tree lined course in a park like setting

Another overpriced covid round but that’s the way it is for right now. Ancil is a great track. Greens firm and somewhat fast. Only thing needing attention is the bunkers. Fairways and tees good.
