Pack your own food if you want to eat after 4pm
What a great course. The greens are getting faster at this course. They've changed their punch schedule, and it has resulted in much faster greens then years past. My only complaint is that the food service stops at 4pm. Me and my playing partner were going to sit down and have some drinks and order some food. We walked in to the restaurant at 4:02, and we were told they are not serving food anymore. Sunday, 4:02, and there is no food available. I think this is the only course in town that doesn't serve food after 4pm. Really! We went to Player's Sports Pub and racked up a $75 tab. We would have preferred to spend that at Ancil.
Emerald Gem
Course is in great condition and greens are firm and fast. Haven’t played here in years. Glad I made the trek up to play again.
Police
Police cruise the parking lot looking to write fix it tickets. If you have a cracked tail light - get a ticket.. Oh, the course, nice track, had a tee time and was told running a little late as the “regulars” had a few extra players. Maintenance workers just drive right up to the tee while people are hitting. Course just is not good to off set the police and the overall poor behavior of the staff.
Thumbs up!
Nice course. Little bit slower pace of play but overall a great game a golf
LAME head pro; GREAT course
Great course requires player to make shots. Pro shop is ATROCIOUS. Only a couple of people know what they are doing in terms of repairs. Head pro is CLUELESS, and worse of all, is righteous about it. It seems as if the head pro Kyle has cognitive dysfunction and has no business dealing with customers. In the day of internet business one would think that a local pro shop would do better to service customers who like to support local business. But not here these days.
Great golf
Loved this course! Very well maintained. Staff friendly.
Majestic and Mature
Really enjoyed playing here. I feel it s the best track in greater Sacramento. I wish people would repair their ball marks on greens and replace divots with sand. This course deserves our care. I ended up repairing a half a dozen ball marks per green and could have done more but needed to keep pace.
Great Golf Course
You need multiple accurate shots to have a great round in my opinion. It is a great course to play.
Beautiful course
The course is beautiful and lots of wild life. 6 deer grazing off the fairway.
Pace of play a little slow, no Marshall to help things move along.
The greens could use some work. They are rough and made putting difficult to read.
Was a nice place to play and would play there again.
Very Good Course
Very good course for a County course. The fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape. The greens are usually very good, but were very fast and hard today. The greens need to be watered more since we've had warm weather for the past week. I still putted better than normal today.
Great public course
In my opinion this is about as good as it gets for a public track. I played on a Friday afternoon as a walking single. Took our foursome just over 4:30 to finish which isn't bad. The course was in awesome shape. The greens appear to have been slightly punched maybe a month ago but you could hardly tell. The layout itself is a very challenging test of golf. I played from the tips, which measure over 7,000 yards. Coupled with the EXTREMELY tight tee shots, this made for a very fun challenge. THere seemed to be more room in the fairways than appears from the tee boxes.
Overall, tough to be this value for a public course in Sacramento.
