Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

after its yearly green aerating and sanding the greens should be in excellent shape in a week or two. otherwise the remainder of the course is in excellent shape.

great condition due to course superintendents care and timely maintenance. greens just aerated and sanded and will be in great fast stimp meter condition

except for a few rain showers, expected it was a slightly cold day but playable

Golf Course was in good shape maintenance wise. and The speed of the greens were very good. The pace of play was excellent for most of the round and the weather was outstanding.

Great course, and it’s in amazing shape for this time of the year!

HAVE BEEN PLAYING MANY COURSES BUT ANCIL HOFFMAN HAS THE BEST MAINTAINED FAIRWAYS AND GREENS IN SACRAMENTO AREA. JUST IMMACULATE WITH GREEN FAIRWAYS EVERYWHERE. WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE.

Had a 10:15 tee time. Weather was perfect for a round of golf and Ancil is always a good place to start. Tee to green the course is in really good shape so kudos to the greens keeping team. I’d say the greens are running at about a 12 if not faster. Love em. Fri he’s are well defined and anywhere from 2 feet to as much as 5 feet wide. Rough is a bit patchy and you can eat some pretty bad lies if you play em down but highly playable. Fairways are great and mowed pretty tight for how many rounds this place gets. Pace of play was good and we played in about 4-1/2 hours with virtually no waiting and we walked.

They are making new tee boxes on 17 so you’re only hitting wedges to that green but the rest of the course is your regular humbling Ancil. Get out there now before a gazillion guys that don’t repair ball marks and the such.

Fairways and greens my fellow loopers.

The best part of this course was the condition. Greens and fairways were great for January. Pace of play was terrible with multiple groups of walkers hitting 3 or 4 balls off the tee. Not a fan of layouts where you can see 6 different holes from every fairway. Overpriced golf course in my opinion but the course was in great shape.

I have played several courses in the Sacramento area the last few months. This is the best maintained course of the group. The fairways did not have any thin spots and the greens were superb.

Always a challenge due to mature trees and a few strategically placed traps. We had great fairway conditions with only 1/2 inch of rain each week for the last month. Few thin lies but really decent overall rivaling Roseville's Timber Creek or other Del Web courses. Got stuck in one puddle trap but most looked ok. Greens are firm and don't stick or check up easily. Great change of conditions compared to some other courses like Wildhawk or Cherry. I play here maybe 7 or 8 times a year. I was really happy to see a little fluff under my ball with a fair rough and other hazards this time in January.

Older, traditional, tree lined course. Sand in bunkers, nice greens, tee boxes in good shape. Nothing spectacular, just a nice older golf course. A little wet but not muddy, would play again.

This course is well maintained. It is one of the few courses in this area that is very playable in the winter. Drainage is excellent. They do a great job of managing the leaves during the fall and winter. During the winter it can be prone to frost delays, but the club house is open and coffe is good.It's a faily flat course with only a few hills. You don't have to be a mountain goat to play here.

Love Ancil. Lots of trees and narrow fairways. Course was in good shape. Friendly staff. I don't like the lack of yardage markers. I'd like to see blue, white, and red stakes added to the course.

I never get tired of playing this course. The greens are in good condition and the layout offers a very nice challenge. For a County facility it is fairly well maintained. The staff at the golf shop and in the Main Event restaurant are very nice.

Friendly and helpful staff. Pace of play was very good today. Some days plays slow. Lots of leafs this time of year. Course in good shape all the way around.
