Ancil Hoffman Golf Course

Challenging course if you don't hit it straight. Lots of trees. Greens, except for #7 were good. Played this course several time and will come back.

As two couples playing this course for the first time, we enjoyed the long, wooded course, and are planning our golf group outing here next month because of it.

Although I didn't play well, I enjoyed my round at Ancil Hoffman. I see what all the hype was/is about, it is a jewel of a course tucked away by the American River. The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Ancil is a great place to play if you want some to get away from the city and be surrounded by woods and wildlife. The course is beautiful, challenging and decently priced. Staff are friendly and the coordination from the starter kept things moving given that it was Superbowl Sunday and everyone was trying to get in a few holes before kick-off. Only point of frustration is that the on-board GPS units in the carts continually jump one hole ahead. This has been a problem for quite a while that evidently has not yet been fixed. Even still, love this place and will most definitely be returning.

Good price for your $ and spend time for you game.

No longer live in the area but drive up at least a couple times a year to play here. Can be very busy and play slow but not this time of year. Greens are good and would be great if players did their part and fixed their ball marks. (not a fault of the course ) Yes the bunkers could use more sand, but for a municipal course they don't come much better.

Slow. No marshal intervention. Frustrating!

Course is average for this time of year (January). Greens were "dirty"... meaning that lots of dirt left from shoes as well as uneven turf.

Beautiful course with the geese, turkeys, and deer. The staff couldn't be nicer!

very easy to walk. when busy, pace of play is slow because course is somewhat challenging.

Played here for the first time today. Course was pretty sloppy, but that was to be expected with all of the recent rains. I really loved the layout of the course...slight fairway undulations winding through a very natural environment of tree lined fairways. Course was very fair in that good shots were rewarded while poor shots shots were appropriately punished. Really look forward to coming out again when it's not so wet. My lone criticism would be that the driving range mats were in dreadful shape. Hard to tell if it was because they were so wet, but it's hard to imagine them being in much better condition when dry.

Group behind us hit up to where we were. Is there anyway to police this?
It was crowded as to be expected the day after Thanksgiving. Lots of frustration.
I still love the course.

The course was in very nice condition and the weather was nice too. Greens rolling good but a tiny bit bumpy due to having been punched a couple week ago. They are keeping the leaves off the fairways which is really great, however stay out of the ruff, it's deep and as always the trees are JAIL, plus that's where most of the leaves have been blown, so good luck finding your ball there. However, I highly recommend this course and because it's challenging I'll be back soon!!

Great course and price. Very friendly staffs. Good to go out on weekdays then weekends.

Very disappionted, had to wait for computer to work for a while, three carts two walkers in line for T off, mower followed me for first four holes and would show up right when I was chipping/putting!!group of four behind me agreed we waited and waved mower to go through he smirked at as and did not see him again at any other hole. Obviousley some kind of little game he was playing, all of us agreed. One of the group of four said it wasnt the first time that has happened.
Where he mowed did not need mowing!!!
Had trackter and work cart drive through multiple times, only played nine holes instead of 18 because of this.
Left messages with my concerns no returned phone calls from management!!

Only was able to play the front nine since the course has just been airated and back nine was unplayable today. Course layout I thought was good, conditions spotty. Tees OK, fairways spotty, chipping areas not good, bunkers, sand quality good but unkept, greens airated so putting was null and void. If the greens were in decent condition I would rate the course as good but was disappointed today.

Greens and fairways are in poor shape. No drink cart on a Friday? No real advantage for being in the fairway.

I was a little disappointed in course care. It was pretty beat up this time. Overall though a great course for the money!

a fun place to play, that remains slow as it was
when this area offered few courses to play. fairways
were in poor condition, but the rest was as good as
i've seen it in the past 30 years. offers several tees
for players of all levels.
they need to be more aware that they are not the only
choice these days. the location alone might be enough
to keep ancil hoffman busy. can see some visible
improvements in cart paths and interestingly they
have the best flags of any course around. maybe because of the new gps.

COURSE IN GOOD SHAPE...GREENS NOT PUNCHED AND WERE VERY GOOD TO PUTT ON. LOTS OF TREES SO BE CAREFUL TO STAY IN FAIRWAYS...
