Whitney Oaks Golf Club

The course is is pretty good condition and the greens are good, but there were bad areas on multiple holes - the worst being a small pond in the middle of the 10th fairway. Four holes were cart path only. Pace of play was bad, with 3 groups on a hole 5 or 6 times.

It’s a great value! Most holes have great character. Even though it is tough on the scorecard, I would take it all day!

This is the first time I have played at Whitney Oaks in 4-5 years mainly because of the pace of play and some of the members are entitles jerks.

It is a very challenging golf course so I only play there early because the pace of play can be dreadful because of the difficulty.

The fairways were cut very short which I love because it is so much easier to hit my irons and the quality of the sand in the bunkers was quite good. Greens were a bit slow for my liking, but in good condition.

There are 3--4 holes that I feel are over the top and almost have a miniature golf quality ti them. I played from the blue tees and my biggest complaint was the tee boxes. More than half of the tee boxes were not even close to being flat. For such a difficult course I do not need the extra challenge of the ball being below or above my feet of the tee.

I may go back to playing here would play here maybe once a year. Much better options within an hour of Sac.

This course is super well kept, friendly staff, and the GPS in the carts is pretty cool. But the layout is the hardest course I’ve ever played. Would I send my friends? No. I’d send someone I don’t get along with though.

The hilly rough was beneficial because it would bounce balls back into the fairway.

Fairways were firm with low grass almost like greens.

Greens were hard and super fast, and all sloped making putts very hard.

Bunkers were fluffy and steep.

Beautiful course though.

Not playing again until I’m a low handicap… so maybe never.

This is a beautiful course but very challenging. I lost more than a few balls but it was worth it. The greens are great, complex and layered. Overall it's a fairly unforgiving course.

This course and facility are kept in very nice condition. The staff is friendly. I love that every hole is different, having it's own set of challenges. You have to think about your shot choices and use all the clubs in your bag. If you practice good course management, this course is a blast!

Course is in good condition n weather was perfect! SLOW PLAY definitely a downer. Was only able to get 11 holes in.

First time playing the course. Played as a single. Open schedule, and found a last minute tee time. I played with three (3) very friendly guys that had played the course often. The course lived up to it reputation of being challenging. I found it to be fair, not recommended for high handy cap golfers. The three (3) guys were very helpful. Without their course knowledge I would have been often out of position often. The course is in great condition. The greens seemed a little slow, but consistent green to green. The adjustment was easy. The greens have lots of contour and multiple levels. Nice course design that made fun and interesting. Plan to play again soon.

Walked in pro shop to check in. Another gentlemen’s ahead of me in street clothes having personal conversation with the gentleman behind counter. Laurie fly waited, never acknowledged, or addressed about checking in. Totally unprofessional!!! Older cart gentleman kindly took my info and gave me a cart and said he would check me in. Will not play there again and will negative yelp and discourage my contacts to avoid the course

Course was in nice condition, it is a tuff course with challenging greens so you may want to adjust the tees you would play for more than just distance.

Played on Tuesday 1030a tee time. Weather was cool in the morning then warmed a little. Played as a single, no one was with me so I could play my pace. Played whites, tee boxes were good. Fairways were nice, greens also nice. Considering mid September golf, no rain lately, excellent conditions. I caught up to a 5some by hole 5, not sure how they teed off or combined. They weren't slow, but they didn't wave me up and through. By the turn they I was pushing by 5 still no go. Could have used a Marshall to visit but it's Tuesday, maybe not working. I finished in 4 hours. Slow to me but it's Tuesday and can't really complain too much. And no, they weren't new golfers. Looked like regulars who played their pace.

Whitney Oaks is an amazing course and has a super challenging layout. I love playing here cause it makes me a better golfer, with that being said if you are new to the game or still haven’t broke 100 this course is going to eat you alive and I highly suggest you opt for easier courses in the area. The only downside to the course is pace of play, if there are hackers playing in front of you, the pace of play is going to be painfully slow. The group in front of us yesterday were playing from blues and couldn’t make it pass the womens tees let alone all the force carries you need to reach playing here. I was once a hacker that couldn’t break a 100 so I feel for ya… but trust me get better by playing easier courses and graduate to a challenge like Whitney Oaks.

You want to really test your game? Whitney Oaks will challenge every part of it. The course is in great shape. Bring your A game and a couple extra balls.
