Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Canyon/Mountain

Excellent golf course.! I have played PGA courses which weren’t any better and at three times the cost. Generous fairways off the tee box with traps placed strategically for that errant drive, and we’ll protected greens made this tract of golf a pleasure. Will definitely be back when in the South Bay.

Challenging course...lots of up and down elevation.

All good except the greens were too fast...like putting on a marble floor. They could slow them down a notch.

Cinnebar costs a little more but it is a great layout and always in great shape. The greens are super fast and break a lot. Some of the fairways have canyons or brush right off of the fairways so expect to lose a lot balls unless you are a 5 handicap or less. Well worth the money. Especially if you consider some of the other courses in the area that are old and tired and don't charge that much less.

This is a really challenging golf course. Tough layout and hard to read greens, but it was in really great condition. I can’t wait to play it again

Conditions were good, adequately maintained.

Pace of play was good too.

Our round was 4 hours and 45 minutes. They either put to many groups out or did nothing to marshal slow play. Very painful to have 3 groups on a hole waiting.

Genuinely sad that a course I was so looking forward to playing was disappointing in completely avoidable ways.

Practice range is shutdown 2/days per week until 9:00 for maintenance which make a morning round tough for these old bones. Sad irony was that upon inspection, literally nobody was working on the range.

But the bigger problem was pace-of-play and lack of marshalling. I actually dropped out after 9 holes when we finished 2 hours and 50 minutes after teeing off. Ran into one maintenance worker on the front nine (but no marshall) who said it was backed up for 3 or 4 groups. Asked him to call a marshall but none ever appeared.

At the clubhouse they were gearing up for some sort of corporate event which obviously had all their attention leaving the rest of us to flounder for ourselves.

It had been a decade plus since I last made the trek to Cinnabar. Probably a decade more until I'll regain the desire to play it again.

Cinnabar is always a very scenic challenge. Maybe it was due recent heat wave but the greens were beat up and the fairways had patches of dead areas. I’d easily pay over $100 when the course is in its typically great condition. Maybe not so much so when it’s beat up.
