Pace if play

We teed off at 7:20 expecting to have 3 1/2 to 4 hour round. Ended up being a 4 1/2 hour round which should it be the case teeing off at 7:20. Very slow foursome was the first off. Not a good experience at all.

Good value for money

One of the better courses here in valley where you don’t have to break the bank to play. I played early and hence didn’t see much by the way of wind. I played canyon and mountain and I really didn’t feel it was tough as I did like playing the elevations. There was a little bit confusion with the GPS when I got to 7th and I was not sure where I was going but it worked out well. Since wind was not an issue didn’t have any carry challenges as others have mentioned here ( I played 3 wood as I don’t like driver much )

Will play this course again for sure

Challenging

Nice layout with several sets but not a course for beginners. Fairways are well maintained. Greens are very fast and firm, maybe a little too fast. Can get windy but overall a great course

Fantastic Layout

This is one of those courses that is a joy to play. There are three nines and they are all excellent challenging layouts. I would warn the average player that if you can’t hit 240 yard drives to move up to the silver tees. This course is not about distance. It’s about precision. The “Cinnebar” tees (what is considered “white” on most courses) play to about 6100 yards. But because of the hills and where the speed slots are on the course it plays MUCH longer than that. If you hit your drives around 200-220 Bury your pride and move up to give yourself a chance to enjoy this jewel. The greens are lighting fast and have huge breaks that are difficult to read. But your reward is that each hole brings a different look and provides a variety of club selections that makes for a complete round.

I would pick this course over the more famous in this part of the state such as Pasatiempo and the Black Horse and Bayonet courses. If you are in the area don’t miss it. In fact play all 27 holes.

Great challenging course

Cinnabar is the best public course in South Bay period. It’s very consistent throughout the years and well maintained. The three different courses test your skills and force you tp use all clubs.

Birthday Outing

The breakfast tacos and Bloody Mary got us started.

Windy, fast smooth greens, a bit wet from overnight rain (carts on cart path only). Always a challenge, great layout. We played Lake-Canyon.

Top notch facility

The best public golf facility in the South Bay. Great staff, well maintained, 3 practice greens, grass driving range and 3 challenging 9s. Tee boxes for every level of golfer but not recommended for a beginner, this is a big pro level course.

Fast but fair

Settled in the low rolling hills of South San Jose near Calero lake, Cinnabar Hills is a complete golf facility with a twenty seven hole layout. There are many amenities for before during and after play. Not really a walking course but the scenery is worth the ride. The greens are consistent year round and kept at top speed! This is a short game tester that one must consider the approach shot wisely or pay the price. After the round sit in the comfortable and well appointed museum of golf memorabilia and enjoy the good food and drink.

The best public course in the South Bay!

I haven’t played a public course that can compare to the quality the Cinnabar offers. Looking forward to next time

Good course layout and in great condition.

Fist time playing Cinnabar. I played the Mountain and Canyon courses. Loved the mountain course. It was in good condition and somewhat forgiven. I found the Canyon course to be a little more challenging and less forgiving. My only issue was with the pace of play. It was slow. I started at 1pm and could only play 17 holes.

Outstanding Golf Course

I was in San Jose visiting family chose Cinnabar Hills as it was near the home we were staying. I have played many courses this would be in my top 5. Very friendly staff including the starter. Was fortunate to play with someone who knew the layout. Conditions were fabulous , fairways and greens were perfect! Pace of play was great played the round in 3:25. I would play here many times and plan to come back when I’m in San Jose next!
