About
Located just 20 minutes from downtown in the Forest Hills section of Tampa, Babe Zaharias Golf Course meanders through a tree-lined residential neighborhood. The golf course measures a modest 6,020 yards, but should not be taken lightly. Golfer Reviews
Could use some TLC
Babe Zaharias was a so-so track. Short course with a good layout but conditions were poor. Very little grass on tee boxes, fairways and even around the greens - mostly just dirt and dead spots. Greens were a bit bumpy but not terrible. Certainly wasn’t nice enough to even justify $45 per person at 3 PM. Also, there’s no driving range to warm up on - just a hitting net behind the cart barn. Overall I’d avoid if there’s tee times available elsewhere.
mike
for a older public course it plays ok the greens roll better than they look if you want to play a cheaper course it is a good value pace of play was not terrible
Tricky doglegs
First time playing the course, so trying to figure out where to lay up on dogleg which had water around the corner presented some challenges. Some greens had a fair amount of bare spots and inconsistent speeds.
Good value
The course is not long, but a few of the par 4 holes play very long. Greens putted very well and held nicely. They are the best part of the course. Sand was good as well. Lots of bare areas off of the fairways and there really is no rough, just bare areas. Some fairways were ok and others a bit bare. Overall, for the price, pace of play and the greens it was a very good value and we had a nice time. All staff members I encountered were friendly. Beer is reasonably priced.
Watch the water holes
Some of the water holes are around a dogleg making for tricky shots for first time course players. Ready for next time.
A tricky course
It was great playing this course some very interesting holes with some tough layouts.
The Babe
Had not played the Babe since the summer. It was in pretty good shape. Pace of play was great. Staff as usual always friendly and professional...
The staff there are very nice
Always enjoy playing here. Even after we had rain all night the course was open The course drains very well.
Good round
Greens were very good, not too fast, not too slow; no bare spots or weeds. Pace was a bit slow as there was a a group of 40 that was on the course in front of us, but still a good round.
Good Round
Nice round. Fairways were average for Florida. Greens well maintained. Have played several times a years for several years. Will play again this year.
Really nice course. EXCEPTIONAL VALUE!
I really like this course. I have only played it twice but it is a top 5 local favorite for me. Friendly staff nice course layout. Greens i ln decwnt shape. Tee boxes upkept. The ground was a bit hard but it has been vwry dry lately. Overall I am very happy.
