Remodeling club house
The clubhouse is being remodeled. Which it needed. About the course, tee boxes need a lot of work. Sparse grass on tee boxes. Fairways were thin but playable. Greens were slightly above mediocre. Staff is very friendly and pace of play was fine. I see this course as improving as time goes on. Nice community course.
Terrible conditions
Was not advised in advance they had aerified the greens the day before. Then as we made the turn we were advised we had to play the front a second time. VERY poor customer service.
Nice for price
The staff was friendly and they were very cooperative with the Covid Guidelines. Course played with an above average pace for FL. Only downfall was the clubhouse renovations are still ongoing.
No change in 35 years
When I was a young teen, my friends and I would walk this course (too young for carts). It was in poor condition, but you could walk and play and have a good time for less than $10 (food included). This was back in the early to mid 1980's. Played there on Friday at the urging of a friend. It hasn't changed a bit except for the price. The entire course was in very poor condition. For the price, highly disappointed.
Cow pasture
Lady at pro shop not welcoming....I felt being intruder at this place...condition of the golf course just terrible...where are the faiirways???? they do not exist there....not worth even 10$....go play somwhere else...
All star cast
The course always looks good and they have a good pace of play most times but exceptional two thumbs up for the safety precautions put in place so we can continue to golf thank you Babe Zaharias staff
Course conditions continue to improve
I’ve been golfing babe for awhile , as it’s my local course. The front 9 fairways need a bit more love , but the greens , tee boxes and remaining fair ways are in the best conditions I’ve seen in years!
GOLFERS BEWARE
My brother and i play here often.. However today. The staff was RUDE dismissive and out right snobish. We showed up 20 mins early paid. Assign with another twosome seemed fine. After being told no twosome today period. We agreed and began the round. Well. Low and behold a twosome starts pushy and pushy us to play faster. WAIT WAIT I THOUGHT THEY SAID NO TWOSOME, after letting them play through what another twosome. SHAME SHAME , So when i said something to the operations manager she ROLLED HER EYES as i was speaking and kept interupting. i finally said enough. I am not asking for anything. We wont be back. To many other great courses around to waste your time here. The staff STINKS HERE. THE SO CALLED MANAGER ALLIWS HER FRIENDS TO SKIP AND DO AS THEY PLEASE. if you are an avid golfer. Skip this
You should try it
First things first at 600 yards the course is not long, do not let that fool you.
If your short game is not in good shape it will messed you up.
The greens are in awesome conditions so are the fairways
The greens are all elevated so you got that to deal with.
Bunkers are great.
Because is not long you would get away with errant t-shots
No range to warm up, so just use 5 iron or less the first hole is not long at all.
I love it, and I recommend it if you just want to see the state of your short game, or if you just want go and enjoy a good round with no pressure , go check it out.
One of the best in class.
Played on a Friday afternoon with warm but not uncomfortable temps, slight threat of rain but nothing serious. Course was pretty empty with a couple of singles playing through, but never had to wait and was never pushed. Played as twosome in about 3:30.
The course is in good shape. A couple of the greens had some patchy crabgrass that was cut back and did not affect putts (much). Greens were moderate speed - a little slow compared to better courses.
The layout is excellent, as there are varied types of holes. The rough was not very punitive - I have heard it can be bad but we didn't see it. Fairways were almost without exception good.
As municipals go, it was excellent and for the money ($26) you couldn't beat it.
Well maintained course
Played the Babe Nov 10, 2019 with my son. Course is in excellent condition. Best golf value in Tampa. Had a great time. Thanks.
Will play again
It's been a long time since I played the Babe, but I won't wait so long next time. Always a challenge, this is a risk and reward course that allows you to play at your comfort level. Go play!!!
Conditions hurt the reviews
The conditions of the course are what you would expect for the money you. Also, you need to understand it is a city course (at least that what I have been told). The course has a very fun layout. There are a mix of drive-able holes, lay-up holes, force carries, long par 3's and hard dog legs. It is a great course to practice all facets of the game. The greens roll okay. Not too bumpy but not too fast either. The biggest problem I experienced was how thick they keep the rough. Its a great golf course if you play from the fairway the whole time but if we were all doing that would it really be any fun...
I have played this course several times and have enjoyed it each time. Don't get scared away by the rating, it isn't that bad.
Good value for money
Nice grass on greens just a little long so a little slow. Fairways we're very nice. Rough is cow pasture so stay in fairway! Nice tee boxes. Good carts. Tight course so it's challenging but fun.
Vicious Starter
Starter has the personality of a rattlesnake poise to strike. Manager, ranger and restaurant personnel all very nice. Course short and narrow between houses but small sloping greens makes it challenging.
Short but challenging Municipal type course
Only 6000 yards from back tees. As with the 2 other Tampa Sports Authority courses, Rocky Point & Rogers Park, this course is well maintained.. The fairways are plush & the elevated greens roll true & fast. The Par 4's on the back nine are long enough to be Par 5's for short drivers like me who only drive 240 yards. There are few houses visible on the course, & they're no where near play. There are a lot of roads that run parallel to the holes, about 4 holes have roads on both sides of the fairways & that got into my buddies head. This is why the course reminds me of Mayfair Country Club & Rolling Hills Golf Club near Orlando. I enjoyed the course & will return to play it even though my buddy won't.
good course, good value
Good layout, decent fairways & greens, value price after noon $23 with cart, very good grill food
