Countryway Golf Club
About
Countryway Golf Club is an executive golf course that is known for its extremely affordable rates. Situated in the heart of Westchase, it is considered one of the best values in Tampa Bay. The layout consists of eleven par-3 holes and seven par 4s. The golf course is challenging enough for more advanced golfers but it is still player-friendly enough for beginners to enjoy. The rolling terrain provides undulations in both the greens and fairways. The hills also make for some challenging putts. There is no shortage of water at Countryway Golf Club with hazards coming into play on 14 holes. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout.

Might be the slowest playing course in all of Florida
First hole felt like I was at the masters with how many people were lined up to tee off. No less than 12 carts were lined up from 10AM all the way until 3PM. Doesn't open up after either. Took us 3 hours to get through 9 holes before we just decided to leave.
DO NOT PLAY
Upon arrival the attendant in the pro shop assumed I would pay for all four in the group, even though I booked for two players. As usual, I asked if the course was on time. I was told to see the starter. When I did, he just told me to wait. In addition, he did not reference the tee sheet when sending players out. It was more of a "first come, first served" fiasco instead of going by our designated time. They were also out of carts. Our tee time was 12:36. We teed off after 1:00. Waited about 15 minutes on the second hole and then arrived at hole three where FOUR groups were waiting. We left.
This course books tee times at six minute intervals. I thought it was a typo, but, no. They pack 'em in like sardines.
Nice course for the money, nice amenities
The 4 people right ahead of us were extremely slow and the Ranger came and asked us to "move our play along" but we never saw him say anything to the very slow people ahead of us. Those 4 people were slow the entire time. There was nothing we could do to move our rate of play along because of the group of 4 ahead of us, we were ready every time. The two holes ahead of that 4'some had no one on them, so they could have moved it along a bit. It's a very nice course but most times a slow rate of play.
Expect a wait time of at least 20 mins between each hole
You get what you paid for. For $17, I did not expect much. However, it is clear that they do not know how to manage their course. Both times that I’ve been here I had to wait 20+ minutes between each holes to play. My first experience was even worst (waited 45 minutes) that I left after the second hole and requested a raincheck.
Play first thing in the morning or not at all
Decent little pitch-n-putt with a couple of par 4’s to pull driver. Cheap and worth trying out if you plan on playing early. My buddy and I had a 2:00 tee time, waited 20 minutes for a cart because they ran out, and took an hour to play 2 holes. When we pulled up to the 3rd hole there were two foursomes and a group of six waiting to tee off. The staff was nice and apologetic and had no problem giving us a rain check. This course is perfect for a quick, early round during the week, but I wouldn’t bother trying during times/days where it could possibly be busy.
Not PGA ready. Not for professional golfers.
I enjoyed the slow pace and teaching atmosphere it creates. Don't come on Saturday expecting a quick 18. Go somewhere else.
