Rocky Point Golf Course
About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Marshal
The “Marshal” was more worried about us being half on half off the cart path by the tee box then the entire group holding up the entire golf course! CLUELESS.
No drainage
Greens and tee boxes were nice but all of the fairways were a swamp. Standing water and mud to the point of losing your ball that’s in play, just didn’t feel like submerging my shoes in water to get my used golf balls back. Will be a decent course once the rain slows down some
I’ve made it my home course.
There’s obviously a lot of nice course’s in/near Tampa. I’m lucky enough to have this one close to my house so I play it pretty often on Monday’s. The condition of the course is very good though after a good rain it can get soft. The greens are in the best shape I’ve seen. You can tell they’re trying to get this course back on peoples list. Sadly, they don’t promote the clubhouse much and never see anyone eating there, so I normally just leave after my round. I think there’s a lot of missed potential there.
Best Shape The Course Has Ever Been
Rocky Point is in the best shape I have ever seen it. Played my first round there 10 years ago, and they have vastly improved it. My only complaint is that the rough could use some more grass in some spots. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all great. New Carts is a bonus as well. Will be playing here more often.
Great Course, too wet
Great course, but was soaking wet. Want to play again in the spring, when it’s not wet.
Rocky Point
Great price for the price, a lot of improvements since I played it last. Only problem is that it still retains a lot of water both in the course and off the fairways.
Pretty boring course
Mostly straight fairways and the pace of play was horrendous. They sent out a league right before my tee time and it took 2 and a half hours to play the front 9. There's basically no OB so there were balls fly everywhere, some kid accidentally hit a shot on the fairway i was playing and hit a shot at the green i was waiting on to clear then realized he was shooting at the wrong green
Not worth price
The course needs some management. I understand it's summer in Tampa, but close to $50 for 9 holes only lose balls in the fairway because they become plugged is bad. $30 for 9 is a stretch at the current state of the course.
Nice course and a challenging layout. I will forsure play here again
Good value and in Good Condition
Played as twosome. Finished in 3.5 hours. Farways and greens were in good condition. Would play regularly if pace and conditions are like this all the time.
What a dump
I typed out a long review. Tried to post a pic and won’t accept it and made me start over. Don’t waste your money or time on this course. Awful conditions. Wayyyy overpriced. The people leaving 4-5 stars must work at the place.
