About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Golfer Reviews
overpriced
people at the course were great, but the course was in bad shape. to charge 65.00 to play is ridiculous, it's a $25 course at best
Mehhhh
Greens decent shape all 18. Also well
Kept bunkers. Rest of course not great fairways very little grass
Love it
I love how open the course is. Greens were Florida winter. Better than most. Best municipal course in tampa I’ve played.
Good shape
The greens were in great shape, and both the tee boxes and fairways were good. The layout is fun with lots of water. Both I and my wife enjoyed the day. It played quick, we played 18 in 3.5 hours.
Cooler Florida Day
Temp was in low 60"s but being from the North, this was 20 plus degree warmer than I am use to in Maryland.at this time of the year. Pace of play was remarkably fast at 3 hrs 50 mins for a day that was crowded.. 10:30am tee-time. ( scatter rule helped the faster pace of play)
Tees boxes are very good, sand traps were excellent shape, fairway was average for this time of year and greens were soft and somewhat firm.. On average I fixed 3 to 4 divots per green from other knuckleheads.
Layout has its challenges. More so on the last 4 or 5 holes.. Hopefully by the time you get there , you worked out any issues with your game or it will only go further down hill. I play here when I fly out of Tampa Airport, since its 15 minutes away.. Friendly and helpful staff. Worth a play.
Ok Course
The usual friendly, helpful, professional, courteous pro shop attendant was replaced by a totally different person. Rude, officious, condescending and downright disrespectful. We have been playing this course for years and this is the second time we were received by this individual with exactly the same attitude. Very disrespectful towards players coming in with a discount from Paradise or GolfNow.
