The newly renovated Claw at USF, named thus for its many doglegged fairways, offers a distinct layout that seamlessly winds through moss draped oaks and towering pines on pristine Florida preservation land. You will enjoy the fact that there are no houses crowding the fairways. Located at the University of South Florida, this manicured course is home to alligators, deer, turkeys and many other rare inhabitants. You will feel like you are playing in the heart of a nature preserve. "The Claw" is also home to the nationally ranked men's and women's USF Golf Teams. Elevated greens and new Tif-Dwarf putting surface, will test your finesse and shot making ability.

The claw
I’ve been playing the claw for 20+ years.
Pace was so slow. Fairways, Tee boxes are struggling.
The greens were is decent shape.
Very poorly maintained cow pasture
Horribly maintained course with zero amenities. Terrible conditions for all tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Cheap but painful to play and embarrassing that this is USF’s home course.
Tuff course
Greens were just punched and bumpy, no sand was put down yet.otherwise it’s okay,. Pace was good.
Clawed-Front 9
Gerard and Nate are great! I had fun getting back into the swing of things at this coarse.
Difficult course.
Difficult course, unfortunately maintenance is lacking, cart barn literally falling apart and may have been condemned, trees dying, tee boxes turning to sand. ok for the price I paid.
Honest review from a “course snob”
My buddies and I used to play the claw every weekend from 2015-2019. We used to love it for the price as we were young professionals just getting our careers going. The course never was immaculate and has seen some dark times. There are no amenities these days. However for 30-40 bucks for a morning round it is not a bad deal. Most greens are actually in great shape maybe a bit long. Tee boxes could use some work but manageable. Dirt patches throughout. All in all I just wish a little money would be put back into the course to get it to a B+ course at least. Layout is always fun and challenging and the location is central to everything.
Great greens but
Everything else needs work. Playing from the tips there is no sight line because of over growth.
I haven’t played in months and it was great to get out and play again
Decent value
Overall course was in pretty good shape; fairways and greens. Greens were pretty slow. Some tee boxes were rough. Pro shop was a small trailer so no amenities to speak of.
