The newly renovated Claw at USF, named thus for its many doglegged fairways, offers a distinct layout that seamlessly winds through moss draped oaks and towering pines on pristine Florida preservation land. You will enjoy the fact that there are no houses crowding the fairways. Located at the University of South Florida, this manicured course is home to alligators, deer, turkeys and many other rare inhabitants. You will feel like you are playing in the heart of a nature preserve. "The Claw" is also home to the nationally ranked men's and women's USF Golf Teams. Elevated greens and new Tif-Dwarf putting surface, will test your finesse and shot making ability.

Several tee boxes need repaired and 3 greens really needs to be checked closer for burns.
Relaxing Day
This was my 1st time playing this course and it was pretty good. I got out of it for what I paid a pretty nice course. Some areas like the fairway rough could use a little more care. The greens were in good shape but T boxes need a lot of work. Overall I would like to play here again some day.
Condition of course embarrassing
For a university with a golf team this is an embarrassing golf course. The facilities are non existent and the course condition was as bad as it gets. Great layout does not make up for the lack of care. The only recommendation I could give is not to go play there.
Worst conditions ever
Worst course conditions we have ever played, and we are not golf snobs
Good value
This course seems to be run by USF students and they are actually really friendly and helpful. The course was crowded but we almost never waited on a Friday morning. We finished in a little over 4 hours. One green was in poor shape but the rest were fine. For the money, it’s a decent place to play.
Value price
Not a terrible value, considering the lower priced greens fees. Challenging course with tight fairways. 4-5 hold have hazards on both sides going down the majority of fairway. The greens are in pretty bad shape (inconsistent speeds, bald spots, fungus / weeds in some cases). Tee boxes are decent, as are most fairways.. Many bald spots outside fairways and hazards need significant attention (hard / packed sand).
Course in great condition
Last time I payed here there was signature dogleg on the 14th as we teed off from the fairway and the green on the 7th was in the fairway. This time everything was in proper order and the course was in great condition.
