University of South Florida Golf Course - The Claw

The pace of play was terrible, let alone they didn’t have carts available until it’d already been 45mins past our tee time. Management is all about making money because they overbooked the course. It seems common sense isn’t common anymore as they put 2 foursomes in front of a twosome. Collectively we played 7 holes in 3 hours, skipping ahead from the 10th to the 17th, ironically the people on 16 were on 9 when we tee’d off on 1. Get more carts, don’t overbook the course, and needless to say we won’t be back.

The fact that you can drive up, park and in a few steps be at the pro shop which is in a trailer outside is nice. The fact that you show your prepaid receipt and are told to go get your cart with no additional fees if great. The greens are lighting fast and the pace of play was outstanding. The only bad thing was that the group behind us decided to hit their drives while we were still in the fairway and almost hit us was not a good thing.

No ranger on the course. Extremely slow play, example backed up 4 groups on 13, and 14.. Not interested in 5+ hr rounds. Greens in great shape.

Challenging course.

I am still looking for any grass to hit my ball on. Could not find a flat tee box. Greens in good shape but fast enough to be a US open greens. The fast greens allowed many balls to move off the green and with no grass the balls would not stop rolling. I will never play the course again.

Greens are great. Players with 8 players in one flight. Or 5 players with 2 bags.

Called Pro shop to ask if they break up and they promised. Did not help. Played 5 hours for 14 holes. Could not finish. Also a 4 some squeezed in on the 10.

I know it is a Student USF course. But basic skills and basic rules and etiquette would be helpful. Even if the Marshall could drive around. Also paid $10 for one water and one soda. Overrated.

No real pro shop. Had to ask someone where it was. Could not drive on the fairways. Seeding... My golf cart was running out of power halfway through my around.. Tee boxes in bad shape. Make this your last choice.

I would be embarrassed if I was a D1 golfer and this was my “home” course. Started by asking if they had a range and they said yes. Pulled out my wallet to buy a bucket and they stopped me say “we will not have balls until 1:00 maybe”. Decided to just go out and play and ended up quitting after 9 because the course was in such bad shape.

greens were consistently good with the exception of number 7 it was a temporary green

For a university course, maintenance was lacking. Need to upgrade drainage.

Had to walk 9 holes since carts weren’t charged the night before apparently. Poorly maintained these days. Used to go to USF and play here often, sad to see it in this state.
