University of South Florida Golf Course - The Claw

Waste of time and money. It just keeps getting worse and worse.

So much of the course was water logged and full of mosquito water. Some of the layout was designed to lose golf balls instead of just being difficult. Frank was top notch though. No 19th hole to get drinks after the round either. Not worth the drive or money.

I've played here many times over the past ten years. This is the worst I've seen it. Including the nuisance flies!

Course was in awful condition. This was my first and last time to play the Claw.

The whole course is terrible. The fairway, rough, greens, everything was overgrown unruly and quite frankly half a** cared for. If the course was $10 for 18 holes I wouldn’t care, but spending $60 for two people at 11:00 am to play is outrageous. And that was a deal... we left at the ninth hole because the ‘pro shop’ which was a container was locked, and we didn’t feel like waiting around for Cheetos and snickers. Overall experience was 0 out of 5 stars. I hope no one plays here ever again. Stay away

Staff was friendly

There needs to be some serious improvements on the course. Pro shop is a shipping crate as well as bathroom. Bathroom had no running water to wash hands. This should be a high priority especially with covid going on. Course lay out was very challenging. I’d play here again if there were better amenities and huge improvements.

Half of the tees were tore up. The grass in the fairways was long and not maintained at all, also there was tree branches every where. Out of the 18 greens, 5 were in really bad shape. In my opinion it looks like they are not taking care of the course because they want to close it, that's how bad of a shape its in.

Greens were in good condition. The rest of course in poor condition. Hard to tell where fairways end and rough begins. Tee boxes were very thin. Haven't played here in a couple years and it has really gone downhill. They were renovating clubhouse, so no judgement there.

Great course to get hammered with the boys. Looking for a nice sober round? Not the place.

It was an okay round. The greens actually didn't look that bad, but the fairways vs rough was non existent. Need to do something. I'd pay $15 to play here. Nothing more.

Upon arrival, I noticed shipping containers in the parking lot. Didn't think much of it, and proceeded to the building to check in, and while approaching the building I was thinking some clean up and trimming was in order. I realized when I got closer the building wasn't even open, and walked around to the back. A young man gave me a cart and said you pay in the shipping container in the parking lot. So, off I went, and the young man working there was very nice, and helpful. The staff is great, but the clubhouse, and shelters out on the course are all condemned....needing torn down and replaced. The practice green was burned real bad, the chipping area is all weeds, and the cart barn is standing, but no clue how. See photo's.......USF and Casper golf should be ashamed to have let it get this bad. With all the money they have, they have failed to maintain the place to any standards. Personally until it is remodeled, I have no intention of going back. USF should be embarrassed to have this place associated with them. No place to eat, no beverage cart, and bathrooms in a trailer is no go for me.

the course needs a lot of TLC, Staff said is the best shape is been in years, I would haven't really hated playing it a year ago then. some greens having biff patches of no grass, and all greens bumpy. many homes in the fairways and patches of missing grass.
