University of South Florida Golf Course - The Claw

I was impressed with the quality of the greens for Florida.

Disappointed there was not a ranger to keep play moving. Was a learning 4 foursome ahead of 6 sets of good players which held everyone up. On the 8th they offered to let us play through.

I'm not a good golfer by any means but courses like these make you work on shots you don't really thinking about on normal wide open - long courses. We like to overpower courses in the States but this course can be tough to do unless you have pinpoint accuracy. This course has changed around a ton from 6+ months ago. The new renovation has turned this place around. I want to visit again. Greens are getting better each month and fairways and tee boxes aren't bad either. For the price, it's completely fair.

Many of the tee boxes had little to no grass. Course needs water! Greens were hard and did not hold an approach shot. Fairways had too many tight lies. I know pro shop is being renovated but this course is not worthy of being the University of South Florida’s Home course.

The Claw is a challenge. Tight fairways and elevated greens don’t make things easy. The course was in ok shape, a couple of greens looked a little rough. Clubhouse is shut down so pro shop and restrooms are trailers. Outside of that, it’s good course and worth the price of admission.

Haven’t played here in over a year. Greens still sandy. Greens also had large black spots on some greens. Had to hit off dirt a few times. Bathroom is a trailer currently. It looks like they are renovating. “Pro shop” is in a con ex box in the parking lot.

The course was tight and tough. You needed to place your shots. It was a test but very enjoyable.

The club house and restaurant are closed and it looks like no work is going on to remodel I hope this is not the case but it sure looks like the course could be on its way to closing over all the course is still playable but you can see that it needs a lot of work to bring it to a place that would make people want to play there . So overall I would say I was disappointed . As to why the pace of play was great, there were not many players

HORRIBLE conditions. This course has a lot of potential to be a good, challenging course; however, the greens are in poor condition, the fairways are sandy, and there are just too many dead spots in the areas of play. The two times I have played there, my cart died on the 8th hole.

I won’t be back any time soon.

Slowest round of golf in history,and not a single ranger in sight. Don’t waste your money. quit after a 3:15 front nine

The greens are very sporadic, they run from extra slow to fast, so you never can get a feel for putting. The no.7 green is completely shot, it's a patchwork of bare spots and green.

As before there is no ranger, so we had a foursome then a twosome in front of us and we were a foursome with a twosome behind us. The problem was the twosome in front of us would wait for the foursome in front of them to get on the green before teeing off, not because they were long hitters, they told us they were not sure on when too hit.

Who knows if the course will ever get back too its true form, I hope so.

Course was in pretty good shape. Pace of play was great. Felt we got value for our dollar.
