University of South Florida Golf Course - The Claw

It was during the rainy season, but this course is poorly maintained and in terrible condition! I would not recommend this course to anyone in its current condition!

This course is in the worst condition of any course I have ever seen.

Can't tell fairways from rough.

Fairways are mostly weeds or sand

Greens were not in terrible shape, surprisingly.

I played this morning, first time here in a while. Nothing great about it. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were terrible. All the tee boxes I played were dirt, fairways were grass clumps, greens were punched looks like a couple of weeks ago and drainage is always poor. It will be a long time before I come back.

Some of the tee boxes and greens were worn out, but overall the course is in good shape. Pace of play is always slow.

This is the worst I've ever seen a course!! Weeds everywhere, greens with massive dead spots, if it hadn't been raining this course would be so much worse!!!!! Tee greens not mowed and all weeds. Painted solo cups used for markers, green, gold, black. Great layout though, narrow!!

Solid course in good shape! Catch it at the right time and it’s a fun, smooth, challenging 18!

The course was backed up and there were many 2 person groups that should have been placed as foursome

Our foursome enjoyed the round at The Claw today. Although the course was very dry and sparsely grassed in places, the greens were in very good shape ( and tough to read at times).

The price was right; the staff was very accommodating and pleasant; and we played in 3.5 hours!

I would certainly do it again through GolfNow.

I expected much more when I booked this round. The greens were nice but the rest of the course was not. The starter was very friendly before the round and tried to give some tips. "Add an extra club going into the elevated greens"

The greens were excellent the rest of the course was sup par. The club house is absolutely awful.

I sign up for this torture a lot. Course is sufficiently challenging even from the gold(typical white) tees. Need good iron control as green are challenging. Really is a risk reward decision on most holes. STAY IN YHE FAIRWAY. The trees show no love.

If you’re looking for a challenging course and don’t want to spend a ton of money, this is the best course around

Course was in fairly good shape. Maintenance work was being done on several fairways but wasn't intrusive. greens were in fairly good shape. were recently sanded. Tough narrow fairways in some holes. Pace of play was great. Not crowded.

I have played this course since the late 60's & im extremely disappointed in the university of south Florida for what they've allowed this course to become. The clubhouse, cart barn & general condition of the course SHOULD BE an embarrassment to the city, county & state. It's really a shame because it used to be class course. I had a nephew play on the men's golf team & The Claw was the course opposing teams respected.

I play now maybe once or twice a year if I can get a rate under $20. In my opinion it's all it's worth!

Fair course, price is low. But I think we show up there with the image of a better course because it’s for a University. For me it look like the course needed love. Green ok, tee box below average and fairway ok. Staff not very present, but when you find one he’s doing the job!!!

Greens were nice rolled true , the rest off the course was in poor condition! This is The University of South Florida course and I would be embarrassed to have other schools play here ! Spotty grass in fairways, more weeds than grass . Sans traps had grass and weeds growing in them . Only paid $28 so the value was good! Course needs to be better taken care of.

Everything you see in other reviews is correct, poor conditions and dilapidated buildings. Looks like in it’s day it was a nice course. If you are a 15 handicap or higher and looking to shake off winter rust then this is a good place to start. A few tight holes but most allow you to spray it around.
